Fred Johnson the 3rd jr
1) How do you go about switching from a Rhino to a Razorback? Do you just plop the different doors/hatch on there, or do you do something with magnets? If so, how? 2) How do you switch between weapons on a Razorback? The directions say not to glue the weapons to the turret or whatever that piece is... so I am guessing I can just swap the HBs for LASes by taking the thing apart and then snapping it together with the other weapon? Or is there a better way? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/210803-advice-on-making-switchable-razorbackrhino/ Share on other sites
Gerwulf
1) just switch the top panel/top hatch + hatch/hatch with storm bolter works well for me. 2) I magnatized my weapons. I cut off the "knob" of the middle part that holds the weapon. I drill a whole and replace it with a 1/8 inch magnet. Then I put 1/8 inch magnets into the holes in the weapons (watch the direction of the magnetic field). I use some green stuff to the connection between the two weapons because they are a little bit further apart due to the magnets. I drill shallow wholes in the top cover of the weapons where the slits are (be careful not to drill right through). I cut off the ridges on top of the weapons and drill wholes into the weapons to fit with magnets. Not sure if it is necessary to magnetise it, since your way would work too, but I just feel the magnets work better. SJumppanen
Well, one way to do this is to buy some used Rhinos/Razorbacks. This way you get some options for Razorback (you can get more from Land Raider Crusader) and it doesn't cost all that much. Or least that is how i got them, i bought stuff that i wanted and got some Razorbacks at the side. Yeah, the Crusader upgrade sprue gives You options for assault cannon RB, while Terminus Ultra LR sprue (the one for Apoc) contains the extra stuff for HB/LC RB. Grey Mage
The top hatch is recessed enough that Ive never once had to worry about it coming off- short of turning the thing upside down over your table, and perhaps shaking it, youll be fine. No magnets, or batteries, required. I am talking about the standard options that come in the box. Just stick them on and snap them together, and then take them off and stick the other ones on? Does the weapon roof/housing piece ever pop off during a game? It seems like mine could. Bonsai Monkey
Hello, Its a shame that you have glued the side doors as if you are going to use magnets, you could have a possable pred later. Thats what I did on all my tanks, so if I ever get the extra turrets I could have 5 preds or mix and match preds/rhino and razorbacks. Also magnets are great fun, I cant tell if your from the UK, but if you are emagnets were cheap. Those are cheaper than those from www.supermagnete.de . But then again that shop didn't have 2mm*2mm disc magnets. Grey Mage
I dont know about doing the weapons on the turrets differently- I do have that many options there. I have a pair of heavy bolter turrets, from RB kits, a LC+PG turret I made from a TLLC turret, and an assault cannon turret I snag from my LRC at times, and a single TLLC turret I have just in case. I got them all, sans AC, from making one per razorback kit- it adds up when you want rhinos. Though I do have some extra HB turrets I could get to fit in- but theyre a custom job, for my planetary defense laser project. wolf363839
I magnetized my turrets exactly the way Gerwulf describes. Works great. It may not be necessary as you can get a turret mount as you accumulate the extra weapons, but I like being able to switch between the two options that come in the razorback box. Plus I only have to paint one weapon mount for all my gun options.
