Wolf Gaurd w/ Jump Packs...Go Hard or Go Home?

As some of you may know. I just got into 40k within the last 2 weeks & decided to join the wolf clans of Fenris & looking through the codex I discovered that Wolf Gaurd dont need to take terminator armor & also have the option of taking jump packs, so my question is...

Is a unit of WG with all jump packs feasible? what are the pros & cons?

I read the post below me & there is a reason why I ask, having purchased the SM battle force it comes with an assault squad wich was one of the reasons I chose it over the SW box (that & the rhino over the droppod) & like the look & concept of the Skyclaw unit before I read their usefulness (wich Im starting to think less highly of) but I dont wish to get rid of them.

On an off topic note ( I didnt want to open a new thread)..I was told that I should invest in Razorbacks because If I dont glue certain parts I can alter it to look like a Rhino when needed. Now having purchased the SM battle force wich comes with a Rhino I wanted to know if it can be fitted (but not glued) with any of the extra weapons that come in the Razorback sprue (as is) or will I have to purchase certain bits to do so?

The key with Razorbacks is to buy the Razorback box (last I looked at my local store they're the same price) and then leave the top hatch unglued so you can plug in the Razorback gun base as needed. I'm not sure you can get the Razorback bits separately.

Wolf Guard pay 25 points each for their jump pack. That means a squad of 10 will have the equivalent of a Land Raider on their backs. Wouldn't you rather have the Land Raider?

The only use I've heard of for them would be taking a squad of three, giving them combi-meltas, and deep-striking as close to an enemy tank as possible. Still for the 144 points it'd cost you could get something like a scout squad, or maybe more Long Fangs.

Skyclaws on the other hand excel at one thing. Assaulting infantry. Don't deep strike them, attach a Wolf Priest and go to town.

I can get the bits thats not a problem. my question was since I already have a Rhino can I use the extra weapon bits from the Razorback sprue without having to add anything when/if I ever want to run 2 RB's?

Basically, would I have to purchase any extra Razorback bits to make its' weapons fit the Rhino?

Nope the top hatch is the same so you can just swap the rhino top hatch with the razorback hath with the hole.

Im still confused, I dont want to "swap" out anything. I want to know if its possible to make 2 "Razorbacks" using 1 whole Rhino & 1 whole Razorback sprue to use at the same time?

(why do I feel like Ive said this once before?)

hey WeeDawg - i think i get what your saying and if you buy the razorback you only get one of the weird gun platform thingies (you get 2 sets of guns and the top hatch comes with the rhino box if i recall) so for like 4-5 dollars or 2-3 pounds etc from a bitz place you just need the bit where the guns slot in (bear in mind the razorback box only comes with lascannons and heavy bolters, but if you want 1 with bolter and 1 with lascannons thats fine - otherwise you need to buy assault cannons/lascannons or whateveryou want)

also IF you want lascannon/twin-plasma gun razorbacks you can have 2 - just attach a bolter half to a lascannon half, chop off the bolter barrel then glue on 2 plasmaguns/plasmapistols and your done (the look opposite and you have a bolter feed, but it does the job)

hope that helps, if not ill stick around a bit and see what you need =)

top hatch bit thing i was on about =)

Wolf Guard are stupidly expensive with jump packs, just a basic squad costs 43 points each before you add the cool stuff. It's easier just to go for skyclaws, 18 points each is respectable as aside from the worse weapon skill, are they are much better value for points (25 point discount for -1 to attacks, WS and BS? I'll take it!) and will chuckout the same number of attacks on they charge (which, they are pretty likely of doing).

Not really, best just to buy the extra part.

There was an old hair metal band named White Lion, and their manager sorta screwed them over down here in Southern Mississippi. Long Story short they came to the Mississippi 5 times as openers for other bands in 1 month.

So I see that White Lions Icon and I get sick. lol

Hopefully you marines will pwn on many different planets and not get dropped on an Agro-world and left to fight for it's food.

for the razorback/ rhino adding thing you would also need to get a Razorback Weapon Cover to cover the top of the weapons other wise it will look strange you can find that here or find a person who has been playing for a long time and just ask if they have any spare bits you can look at as i got lucky one day and was given all the parts minus the weapon's to make a razorback weapon set by a guy.
