Help for Blood Angels Army Build

Recommended Posts

Well, I re-thought the choises of my army, and i would like to ask some questions. First of all, having both 4 tactical and 1 sanguinary (and Dante as leader), I have thought about converting 10 to 20 models from tactical to death company. I also need to spend some points for close combat. I also have a regular predator and my question is that if i would be able to convert it as a baal predator if i buy a new one and using some components, so that i can have 2 baal predators. I also need ur thoughts about rhinos. Are they really helpful in this army? All proposals accepted, even the ones for a new blood angels army. Help guys!!! My purpose is an army of about 1000 points. Thank you in advance. :HQ: :P

Hi there!

Let's see if I can take a stab at your questions.

First off since you mentioned you are aiming for the 1000 point level, I think you don't need a really big DC. I recommend using 5 to 10 DC in a Rhino. Instead, I would go about converting some Assault Marines from your Tacticals. Since you probably won't have any Jump Packs, get Rhinos or Razorbacks for them. Our Assault Squads are awesome and coupled with a Priest they are definitely one of the best Troop choices around. Melta weaponry coupled with a Powerfist on the Sarge is recommended in most cases. Also, you might want to consider replacing Dante with a Reclusiarch (works very well with DC and Assault Squads) or a Librarian, since Dante is really better suited for a Jump Packing army.

As for the Baal I think you can get a dakka Baal pretty easily from your Destructor by replacing the Autocannon with a minor conversion of two Assault Cannons.

If you need more specific advice list-wise, I recommend posting a list in the Blood Angels army lists section and let our veterans pick the list apart.

I really appreciate your help on my topic, altough i have one question. By converting tactical to assault, you mean with chainswords and pistols, right? However, having in concideration that i havent sufficient number of those in reserve, i also dont think they could achieve much without jumppacks. With or without the jumppacks, the cost of the assault squad still remains the same.

I need to know what special and heavy weapons your tactical squads have before i can help, or if anything is possible on them.

Here's the simple cheap list without changing a whole lot. The main problem here is mobility and a reliable way to take out armor. Melta guns are great, but they're far more reliable if put into an assault squad so they actually have a chance of getting close.

HQ

Reclusiarch - 130

TROOPS

Tactical Squad - 240

-missile launcher, melta gun

-rhino

Tactical Squad - 190

-missile launcher, melta gun

Death Company - 150

-bolters

-rhino

FAST

Baal Predator - 145

-HB sponsons

Baal Predator - 145

-HB sponsons

TOTAL: 1000

And here's a list if you're willing to shell out some more cash. This entire list is fast, and allows you to do everything better.

EDIT:

I think the money you'd spend buying the assault squads is the best investment into a BA army you can possibly do. They are our best basic troop choice, allowing mobility, CC power, anti-tank, and a scoring unit all in one. Tactical Squads still have their place in a BA army, but only after you already have a couple assault squads.

HQ

Reclusiarch – 155

-jump pack

ELITE

Sanguinary Priest - 75

-jump pack

TROOPS

Assault Squad – 235

-power fist, melta gun, melta gun

Assault Squad – 235

-power fist, melta gun, melta gun

FAST

Baal Predator – 155

-HB sponsons, storm bolter

Baal Predator – 145

-HB sponsons

TOTAL: 1000

Your proposal is very interesting. Thank you!!!

No problem. If you're short on cash, or you want to play games before getting all 20 assault marines done, you can try replacing just one of the assault squads with a tactical squad in the mean time too.

Yep, that was what I meant. I assumed you had close combat weapons since you were interested in converting DC, so my bad! :P

Good luck with your army!

a big bonus to BA is the fast rhino chassis whch i'm sure we all suggest at some point a nice part is that with the rhino it's self you can drop a tac on an objective turn 2 and with a little fire support from a Baal, small Dev, or pred you can keep it which is another optin to you. But either way you need at least one assault squad and some fire support. if you get one assault box you can make almost an entire squad just need 5 more legs. you get 5 chain swords a power fist through in some combat knives and grenade arms and model up the plasma pistol differently get 2 special weapons and you got it. So you take 2 reg marines with special weapons and all you really need is 3 more legs. Now go and fight for the Emperor.
