OFF with their HEADs!

Recommended Posts

i'm looking for advice and input regarding how i might processed with removing heads from metal minis. The one model I would like to hack on, and get a full closed helmet on is the OOP Calgar in PA. Also have a metal TDA Capt that i would love to have enclosed as well. I would really like to work with what i have, instead of having to allocated ANOTHER mini.

i do have a few metal minis that i could test on as well.

Razor saw or jewellers hacksaw are excellent investments - the jeweller's saw being teh preference as teh blades are so thin, razor saws sometimes can't get into the tight spots required - as indicated above a dremel is greta - but sometimes you can go just that bit too far.

As for Calgar - have you tried hollowing out a Plastic SM helmet? Teh head looks the same size as the old captain mini, and I got a helmet onto him no problem..

I wrote up a little mini-tutorial last year about removing heads:

It's done with plastic models, but the process and the effect are 100% the same. I'm also looking to remove the head from that Calgar model, and replace it with a MkIV Forgeworld helmet. Same with the Medusa V Lightning Claw Sicarius.
