Please tell me I'm crazy

Normally I would consider this kinda dumb but here goes..

In a lot of games (especially spear head deployment games) I find my sniper scouts somewhat isolated. This is because I infiltrate them on an objective or a piece of terrain far from where the rest of my army runs straight up the middle (as BA are wont to do). I do this reasoning that if the enemy devotes any attention to them their camo cloaks will ensure they spend more fire power on them then they cost me.

Well in a recent game they were holding an isolated objective when three multilaser sentinels came from the board edge and eventually It was charge or be charged and I got this idea;

Put a power fist on the sarge.

And here's why this idea wasn't immediately discarded:

If they have camo cloaks in cover they are slightly harder to kill then regular space marines and with sniper rifles they have no reason to leave that cover meaning enemies will have to go in after them.

If someone does go after them they then have the Great Equalizer and can either wait for the charge and get another turn of shooting or use move through cover to make sure they get the charge.

Some one might just decide to go pick a fight somewhere else leaving them to suppress the enemy unhindered.

Does this actually have merit or am I just throwing points away?

I guess if you really wanted to you could, but once you buy cloaks and whatnot your Scouts become a little pricey, and chances are one powerfist serg amongst a bunch of WS3 4+ armor dudes won't really make a difference because nearly anything charging you would probably murder you anyway.I'm admittedly slightly biased against Scouts; I'm not so biased till the point I will overlook their usefulness (I like Wolf Scouts and Telion, for example) but I've tried them several times in the past and they've disappointed me :/
