hey guys,

ive got about 15 scouts that i got to (re) paint. last time i did bleached bone trying to get a sort of tan like colour as shown in the codex and...it looked quite awfull..

what would be the best colour to get a tan, or brownish look?

second, i want to paint some of the scout models with cloaks as if they got a camo scheme on it. does anyone know a good method to paint this or should i just look at actuall camo gear and try to copy it?

thanks in advance :P

If memory serves, I did the khaki trousers on my neophytes by using a Kommando Khaki base with minimalist Bone highlights, and washed with Graveyard earth to darken the recesses. Kind of a pain considering how awful the coverage of Khaki and Earth are. Using a few watered down layers of Dheneb Stone as a foundation first will make it a bit easier going up from a black base coat.

Here's an example, though the pic is a bit dark. For a brightness reference, the shoulders are solid Bleached Bone

That page has a shot of all 6 of my Neophytes (what you lesser chapters call "scouts") from front back left and right angles. Again, the photos for that lot are a bit dark, as I was still learning the ins n' outs of mini photography.

As for the berry-barrier, I didn't wrap the cup armor around to the butt plate. They were painted as two separate pieces of black with pants running appropriately between them. Otherwise it just looks like a big metallic diaper :P .

Commando khakhi with a spot of Snakebite will give a nice base, tan implies the sort of colours used in desert camo qhich can at times seem almost pinish.

As for camo cloaks - how about using the same base colour but applying a digital camo scheme? You could go light tan base with dark tan or muddy grey (graveyard earth), brown (snakebite leather) and black digital camo effect?

thanks, yea thats why i asked. i figured the armour would connect the 2 pieces but coulnt see it clearly....now that i dident painted them that way its pretty obvious its cloth thats between the 2 points :)

dont got khaki or graveyard...have to get those first i guess. thanks for the help guys

as to how to paint your camo cloaks, go with what looks cool....but personally ive copied the standard camo pattern idea from the real world.

1. Pick and environment to blend into

2. Choose a colour which is prevalent in that environment

3. choose a colour in the same group which is darker than the base

4. Chose one which is lighter than the base

5. Put blots of the two other colours randomly over the base colour

Ex. Temperate

2. Dark Green

3. Black/Brown

4. Light Green
