Deathwatch

Hi folks,

this is the first thread I open in this forum. I want to share my latest projects with you guys. I'm a huge fan of the Deathwatch. Unfortunately they are not in the codex :HS:. So how could I field them? I thought that I use them as The Legion Of The Damned. I don't like these ghostly Space Marines who appear and disappear on the battlefield. So, they have to go.

Deathwach captain - will be an Ultramarine (since I field an Ultramarine army, this is pretty obvious :HQ: )

He is magnetized, so I can swap out his weapons if I have to.

The melta bomb guy :D

http://img.xrmb2.net/591127.jpg

Haven't decided which chapter he is from, probably from Scythes of the Emperor?

The grenade guy

http://img.xrmb2.net/585956.jpg

No idea where he's coming from, chapterwise. :D

'Cover me, I'm reloading!'

http://img.xrmb2.net/196703.jpg

Any ideas?

'I don't want no pictures!'

http://img.xrmb2.net/930853.jpg

He is also an Ultramarine. He has already a shoulder guard with chapter symbol

The Auspex Marine

http://img.xrmb2.net/638906.jpg

Is there a chapter that has strong connections to the Adeptus Mechanicus?

The Space Wolf

http://img.xrmb2.net/873791.jpg

I really like this one. But I'm not certain how or where I'm putting the bolter. Should I 'mag lock' it on his leg? Or should I put a belt on the bolter so that he carries it over his shoulder?

Last but not least - the Black Templar

http://img.xrmb2.net/640499.jpg

There is also one Marine with melta (magnetized) and a Marine with multi melta (also magnetized). But since they are pretty normal (no deathwatch bolters) - no pictures.

If you have any ideas which chapters I sould include, just fire away. ;)

Comments and criticism greatly appreciated.

first off - count as legion of the damned?

thats genius!

secondly (may be a negative) with an ultra army, don't 'over ultra' the force i thik the ultra sargeant would be a good idea from a fluff perspective - as he is removed from the ultramarine chain-of-command, and would want to follow the codex, but the inquisitor in his ear would be demanding the mission is complete ...

i would make the melta bomb guy an imperial fist

and the auspex guy could be iron hands (they are tight with ad'mech)

multi melta could be salamander

and melta could be rocking out as a random chapter (praeters of orpheus, mantis warriors, crimson fists maybe?), there's the 1000 and one chapter thread, pick one, lol

as for the space wolf dude, putting the bolter on a strap/harness would be a way to add easy movement to the model. but 'mag locking' it would be easiest - its up to you really

I've been meaning to get a Deathwatch team one day, especially with the release of the Deathwatch RPG coming up.

I second the grenade guy being an Imperial Fist, as well as the sergeant being the only Ultramarine. But do what you want, obviously.

Looking forward to see more.

Also, you can host images directly on the Bolter and Chainsword, it makes it easier to load up the larger images.

I know a few people who use Sternguard Vets for count as Deathwatch for their special ammo rules.

Using LotD is a new one on me. I could see it working, the Slow and Purposeful rule is a out of place but you can work around it with a transport. I definately think its a pretty cool idea.

It could mean that they're going slowly to ensure that every filthy xeno dies.

or that thier 'deathwatch' weapons are easier to use on the move... they used to have 'move and fire' heavy bolters

Well, good point. The only problem is that the shoulder guard with the Ultramarine symbol is already on the marine. I tried to get it off but it's not coming of. :(

Imperial Fist shoulder guard ordered ^_^

I have found an Iron Hands head. Lucky me. Thanks for the advice. Why haven't I thought of it before? ;)

multi melta could be salamander

The same idea came into my mind after posting the pictures. :)

Yeah, there are many chapters but I want to avoid putting two chapters in the squad who do not get along. I had Dark Angels in mind but since I already have a Space Wolf in the squad ;)

I think I will mag lock it. I would have to use green stuff for a harness or something like that. And I'm not that good with green stuff.

Thanks for the input guys!

Simple enough – paint the shoulder pad a different colour. Sons of Orar have a red and white omega; so why not make up a chapter that has an inverted omega and different colours? ;)

But then the symbol has to be upside down, if I memorize the symbol of the Sons Of Orar correctly. ;)

Well, I could change the chapter of the Deathwatch captain :cuss

He was meaning use it right side up, like the Ultramarines do... just with another paint scheme. Omega Marines come to mind, just add a skull to the center of the "U".
