Murcielago
This Friday, my friends and I are doing a 1500 point game night at my house and I need some advice on how to beat a space marine (vanilla). All i know is that he's heavily close combat with power weapons so he can take away my saves and feel no pain...also, he's using a 400 point vanguard veteran squad with power weapons and storm shields...and that might kill anything I have. So what should I use to beat him up? Im debating a unit of 25 death company on foot with 5 death company dreadnoughts thrown in for overkill but am not too sure how well that would do. Please help me, fellow sons of Sanguinius
Brother Nathan
furious charge will beat anything he has in cc... try astro, he auta doit and then do what you want to do. we do cc far better than they do just more expensively in most cases. calgaryBA
1) Bring Mephiston 2) A vindicator or 2 3) Play smart and ensure the charge, using firepower to force him. EDIT: 4) Bring priests anyways for furious charge. Always key. A Dread with talons would rock as well.
I am Legion
Since we are marine players here. We should all know exactly how easy it is to kill them. I say go for MM A.Bikes to pop his transports and vindicator/terminators/DC/Furiosos with Blood Talons/DC Dreads With Blood Talons. See lots of Options. :jaw: Actually get as much stuff with blood talons that you can fit. I ran 6 of these once and I barely took any damage. I simply deep struck a few tacticals in pods next to Dreads around 12' away. The tacticals flamed and plasma'd or popped tanks, and the dreads just need one turn to live, so pop smoke and tell ur opponent "Good Luck Next Turn". Jakobus
Sternguard the AP3 bolter rounds and a Sang Priest stepping out of a droppod.
I am Legion
Pods are great, but if you want to guarantee the charge, i'd say Baal Preds and as many RAS as possible with Priests
Crynn
Sm vnaguard units are horrible, unreliable more expensive and scatter more so dont always get the charge, sternguard 2+ to wound boltguns will kill them, termies with claws and priest on the charge will even past their storm shields, use libs with shield and rage DC are good on fit in a transport vindis are geat need around 2 priests I suggest one if not both being part of honor guards which will also beat vang vets. Meph will destroy him, dont use astorath, he overpriced just use priests, astoraths ability is actually very average a 33% extra chance of FC when priests give bubbles of it??? anything with power weapons and I5 will will do great against marines. Ozybonza
Bait his VV squad with a cheap, disposable unit (5 man tactical or scouts etc). Let him get the deep strike+charge (although he may scatter - even better), let you squad die then shoot the crap out of them in your following shooting phase. Murcielago
Ok brothers, thanks for all of the responses...but I'm still alittle unsure of what to do in this situation and the situation has just changed. Now, instead of a 4 player game night, its a 2v2 game with me and another blood angel vs. the marine player and a daemonhunter. My plans for this are a unit of 20 DC to walk onto the field, plus 4 DC dreadnoughts in drop pods along with a tactical squad in a drop pod (maybe sternguard). That should mess up his battleline fairly fast but we'll see
