LordofDeath11
Hey I just copped the Chapter master off eBay(screw GW and their ever-rising prices) and the plan is to turn them into an Honour Gurad squad along with the Emperor's Champ as the Blood Champ. Obviously these guys will be geared for close combat but I still wanna leave them with their normal packs on, have one of them carrying a Melta gun and put them in a Razback. Sound viable or does having all those CC weapons in a squad without JP's make no sense? PS I've got all this Iconography and stuff to make the Razorback look all vintage and decorated. It's gonna be great.

Brother Corbulo
Hey still knew to the blood angels, but I think if your going with a honor guard in razorbacks then you are going for the armor spearhead approach with a number of transports rushing forward. Are you looking at doing all razorbacks? There are a few article discussing that right now. I would load them out with a lightning claw and a storm-shield if you are looking for normal melee. tank hunting obviously thunder hammers and shields. Meltaguns are good at wounding MCs and tanks. the real question you need to ask is what do you want them to be? Are they the balance guys that can do a bit of everything, or do you want to make them more specialized when they pop the hatch on the razorback? Funny side note: Just remember if you play against an avatar your melta won't work he'll just grinds and eats you.

BLACK BLΠFLY
If you want them to carry meltaguns then I think it's best for them to ride in a rhino so they can shoot out the hatch. Sure razors are cool but in this case the rhino is the better choice in my opinion. I think they are viable as such plus the transport will help to extend the range of the Novitiate's FNP/FC aura. 0b :)
Kunanaki
I think your lack of replies has to do with the fact there is a thread, still on this very page, that you could have asked this question. Please mention the points cost, or the combination of weapons, shields, or anything in addition to putting a CC squad in a razorback with a Champion and Maybe a Meltagun. So in Summary. What Kind of Razorback? What weapons on the Honour Guard? What is the air speed velocity of an Unladen Swallow? LordofDeath11
As it was a seperate question regarding my own personal situation I thought it best not to pollute someone else's thread with my queries. In relation to your questions: 1.Razorback with Ass Cannon, maybe Heavy Flamer. 2.As I mentioned the Honour Guard follow the kit out of the Masters of the Chapter model's, so; Thunder Hammer, 3x Power weapons and one shield, shooty Master's gun will be changed to Melta gun. 3.It depends on whether you are talking about an African or European swallow. igotsmeakabob!!
I think I built my Honor Guard too points-heavy... Redfinger
not related to much to the op's question but.....(1 HG+4 melta's+1 glaive+jump packs) * (VV+ 4 SS+ 1glaive) = dead tank with the remaing squad inside destroyed...ah I love that combo never thought of running HG in a transport. bloodancient
I think that it depends on wether or not the HQ unit it was chosen from has JP or not. I prefer for them to be able to go together even if you don't put them together. I got a new capt. made him walking and decided to form an HG to walk with him. As to the CC of the squad you can always Land Raider them and then it doesn't matter because they can still assault. But no i don't think it's a bad idea you should really run with it and see how it works.

Volchek
I prefer to use a 5-man HG unit with Anti-tank and CC flexibility. I use JP on them as well, I DS them with the intent of killing tanks or MC's. Or I tend to move them with Mephiston in range of the Novitiate so Mephy gets FC and FNP. If I do this I move them behind a Baal Pred moving 12" or 18" dependng on the range to the enemy unit I want to engage 1st. I equip my HG like this: Novitiate IP and PW x2 MG x2 JumpPacks
