Techmarine Andreas
Can anyone clarify when the attack on prospero occured relative to the events on Istvaan III? I really cant resolve in my mind whether it was before, pretty much simultaneously or after. HandOfDorn
To my knowledge, the Burning of Prospero was before the events on Istvaan III, as Horus mentions that he has already told Russ that Magnus has defied all edicts of Nikea, and is a traitor, and Russ subsequently believed him as he was Warmaster and had authority from the Emperor. If it was after Istvaan III, Russ would have known Horus to be the arch-traitor and not have acted upon his orders. isilvra
As near as I can make out it was about when Horus finished with Istvaan 3 before heading to Istavaan 5. Horus having reviced confirmation from Russ that the attack was about to get under way. I beleive he brings it up when he is talking with Fulgrim. douchie
I have to agree that it occurs at pretty much the same point in time. The reference point has to be when Horus almost dies & is saved by Erebus. Magnus attempts to stop him falling from grace & visits him in his dream state. This occurs in both books a couple of months prior to Istavaan III & Prospero burning Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211378-heresy-timeline/#findComment-2517597 Share on other sites
isilvra
After a little more research I have learned the following: A thousand sons suggest that the attack on prospero happened 3 weeks after Magnus sent his warning to the emperor. Tales of Heresy says that at least 5 months must have passed because the 13th company (who participated in the attack on prospero) were ordered to meet the legion 5 months after completing there campaign. Horus learns that Russ is being sent to bring Magnus back to Terra at the close of the Auretian Technocracy campaign which happen at least 10 months after the events on Davin. The orders to Kill Magnus rather that capture him came from Horus. Horus revices word of Magnus escape at the start of Istavaan campaign In short? I don't think the authors are working from a unified timeline. Well, that or just do what Black library always do with errors like this and blame the warp  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211378-heresy-timeline/#findComment-2519561 Share on other sites
