Metal Apostle
*starts Judas Priest's Hell Patrol* So this is why i havn't been tending to the ladies at the Order of the Bloody Rose... I've dug out my old White Scars army and decided to organize it into several company themed lists (as in an army for all my bikes; an army for all my troops etc) which i can then pick and choose from in more specific scenarios. The first is obviously going to be an all biker list which is basically Khan, mounted command squad, 25 bikes and 11 attack bikes. What i have already: http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0038.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0039.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0030.jpg The problem here is that since it was over such a long period of time, they (and my non bike marines also, but that's another story) have different paint schemes. One lot has a flatter, blacklined white, whilst the other has more a drybrushed, blue-grey shaded white to it. Also, the conversions arn't as neat as i'd like and the paintjob is quite frankly speaking very... 14 year old me... not to mention it having a very 2nd/3rd edition vibe to it. Luckily these days we have Simple Green so i'm able to strip them down and unite the clans :D So anyway, harnessing the awesome powers of ebay, i've picked up a few bike squads which i've been working on piling on accessories etc. Here are some WIP shots of my special weapons marines and all the ones i have assembled. A set of 9 Salamander bikers i bought refused to let go of their black primer, but i suppose a few sprays of white should do it! http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0028.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/Meltagunners.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0029.jpg I've mounted two of the meltas on top of the bolters so i can have the marines holding pistols or chainswords :) more modelling possibilities http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0031.jpg Group shot of the ebayed bikes Also, i've made an attack bike base which i plan to cast a few times. It JUST fits on the 65mm base, but i thought i'd get a better fit and uniformity with the new bike bases if they were oval. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0032.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0033.jpg I do foresee a lot of repetitive painting eventually; but uni is busy and i only get to put a biker together every now and then so... probably wont be until the summer comes anyway! Just thought i'd fill you folks in on what i've been up to :) http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0040.jpg Group shot of all the assembled bikes so far... When i see them massed i cant help but be reminded of the poor guards defending the Great Wall of China against the Mongolians. Should be good! Oh.... and this is before these guys join in... http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0024.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211442-ride-the-lightning/ Share on other sites

S. Bloodhowl
Looks good man, love the big bases. Can I put forward a suggestion? For the meltas why dont you replace one of the mounted bolters with them, instead of having it resting on top. Metal Apostle
Bloodhowl: I had thought about that actually! :) The reason i mounted it on top of one of the bolters was so that it would be more true to the wargear. The bikes still have twin-linked bolters; and a melta. I suppose it keeps it valid in the rare circumstances where i want to fire twin bolters rather than the meltagun (eg. for rapidfire). Dannis: I'm not sure which one you mean but the bald guy is basically one of the new Space Wolf heads with his hair shaved and and filed to look bald; and the topknot head is from the old Space Wolf kit with the topknot repositioned to be swept back with the wind. The Normish
Cool project, will follow it! http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0028.jpg What's the head of the 2nd biker off? Looks like resin I think it's just primed white, actually. But like he said, old Space Wolf head. Sounds like a great project, I love the bikes, but I find the base expansion thing to be a stroke of genius. Metal Apostle
Time for an update :) So the bikes have now all been stripped and re-assembled. I've thrown on a lot of pouches, ammo crates, knives etc all over them to really depict the "born in the saddle" feel that they deserve. I havn't taken detailed photos of each at the moment since without riders (and paint) it's nothing extravagent. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0112.jpg So these are all of my standard bikers and a few attack bikes (with more to come!). http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0113.jpg To mix up the riders a bit, i've built a few variations to the standard riders legs, namely Corvus armoured legs and bionics! ;) http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0115.jpg Also, here's an attack bike with a repositioned gunner :) http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0114.jpg Over the next few days i'll be building the riders, which should be fun, and the command squad which i'm very excited about :) I have my White Scars storm shields from my 'Stormwing' thread cast and usable for the command squad but i'm still thinking of how to give them weapon, shield AND have them holding handlebars :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211442-ride-the-lightning/#findComment-2565156 Share on other sites
