Actually, he's right, i'm doing Deathwing (of course without dreads, all mounted terminator squads :D). As much as i liked the prospect of combi-meltas and power weapon combos, in the end it's going to end up as just one detatchment of a bigger White Scar army. With the Wolfwing options, i won't be able to reintegrate the models if i mix-and-match using C:SM! Metal Apostle
Time for another update ^_^ First, my third and final veteran sergeant. He's serving in the Command Squad so he's somewhat of a Company Champion (but without the rules obviously, just modelled a bit differently). Just like the power armoured champ gets layered shoulders, i gave this guy layered plates and of course, a set of tulwars made from cut up Dark Elf spearheads. Whilst a lot of the other poses are dynamic and advancing, the champion is meant to exemplify the ways of the White Scars. Hitting very fast, very hard. So i've modelled his pose into a full sprint. Terminators can't sweeping advance.... that's what they want you to think hahaha... http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_2601.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_2602.jpg Also, i'm about halfway through my apothecary right now. To build a reductor fit for a terminator, i used part of the cyclone missile launcher, the lightbulb from the teleport homer, and serachlight and hunter-killer missile parts from the rhino kit :) I've picked the most calm looking Wolfguard head so he can still have a beard but actually look the part of a medic. I figured that a screaming, wild-haired madman is the last person you'd want doing surgery on you! I'm about to start modelling the narthecium, but i dont really want to use the chainfist as a base because of the fat fingers. I'm thinking of using the powersword arm, but with bits glued to the forearm instead, leaving the hand free to operate. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_2594copy.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_2598copy.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211446-the-stormwing-cometh-updated-19th-dec/page/3/#findComment-2584586 Share on other sites

Dark Apostle Thirst
Very nice! I think I'll watch this... I think you should make the mongol them heavier though... Hyperion
Fantastic conversions. Always good to see another White Scars player. If you're looking for more mongolian-style faces then check out the chaos marauder cavalry heads. I've been using them for my Scars. Metal Apostle
Thank you all for the kind words, they keep me motivated :) On the note of the marauder horsemen heads, i'd love to get my hands on some but the prices on them have been skyrocketing on ebay lately. Since i've only got 2 more foot troops left, i can't say i'll be using them anyway (although, i do have many more marines/bikes to do!). Having said that though, if people think that the heads seem too SW-like, i may revisit some of the older models and give them more asian looking moustaches.. We'll see.. Currently working on one huge 1st Brotherhood Standard, and watching the glue dry on the Apothecary. ;) More to come soon... Metal Apostle
At last, all the troops are complete! Should be able to get some paint happening now! First up, the finished apothecary. I've added more pouches and that around his belt and of course, given him a Narthecium, built from green stuff, a chainsword, power-sword arm, a cut up auspex and the tip of a lasgun. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0197.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0198.jpg He's usually going to use a heavy flamer, but in future, if i decide to go shootier, i've made the arm removable. As the apothecary has quite a calm pose, and the arms are down, i went with the cheapskates magnetizing. Just an unglued pin! The pics show him with a variant storm bolter arm... http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0199.jpg This last guy i'm very happy about. In the previous comments it was noted that they wern't quite Mongolian enough, so i've made a much more Mongolian style plate mail armour. The head also has that classic moustache that the Scars seem to love. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0193.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0194.jpg The standard itself i've gone with a more Chinese/Asian triangle design, fur lined for that extra steppe barbarian feel. The head of the banner i've gone with three emblems. Stacked, they have a bit of a totemic feel about it, which whilst isnt Mongolian, still has that earthy culture behind it. It is supposed to represent the Stormwing's loyalty to the Imperium (eagle), the 1st Brotherhood (crux terminatus) and Chogoris (goat skull + horsetail). http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMAG0196.jpg Not that i usually take much care in taking WIP photos, but i have to apologize also for the lower quality photos. I had to use my phonecam as my sister has borrowed the ixus. With only the techmarine and Jubal Khan left, i can start thinking about paint for these guys. I've been tossing up ideas for a techmarine, perhaps you could offer some ideas? I'm thinking bare arms on terminator-esque armour (down to the elbows only), to indicate that it is terminatory artificer armour rather than full on TDA. The arms also give more of a barbaric image? I want to convey a 41st Millenium marauder blacksmith, but keeping AM themes throughout.... We'll see how things go. Natanael
Looks great. The apoc and his narthecium is great, love it. The banner bearer have got some nice armour, tough I think you need to spread it a bit more across the front plate. Right now it seems very much like it is just something he put on there, not part of the armour. The banner is huge... awesome =D The white arms that you use, are they your own resin-casts, or do you get them from somewere? - Natanael Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211446-the-stormwing-cometh-updated-19th-dec/page/3/#findComment-2592763 Share on other sites
Lysimachus
This is all amazing stuff! I think the only thing I'm not sure about is the Apothecary, it's an excellent TDA version of the narthecium/pack, but it doesn't seem very White Scar-y with just the SW head? Perhaps it could do with a tooth necklace/pelt/pouch/something GS'ed on the arms/body? After all, he's a veteran WS (for a long time before being trained as an Apothecary) and should have more (Chapter-specific) honours? Nevertheless, completely brilliant! Metal Apostle
Wow, quick responses  Thanks! Natanael: The white arms are from the terminator sergeant, which i've cast after cutting off the sword. I figured i would need quite a few of them! (personal use only mind you :ermm:) Thanks for the tip on the plate mail, i'll extend it further down all the way to the belt. Lysimachus: With the apoth, i was hoping to keep him a little more "Imperial" looking in the event i were to ever need him in a NON White Scar army [having said that, i'd probably make more Stormwing and continue the count-as!] I really do hope that doesn't happen though, since the whole point of my 'uniting the clans' was so i didn't have some marines painted as Imperial Fists, some as Dark Angels and some as White Scars. On that note though, if it seems that it's SO far off the other models from a coherancy point of view, i might add a tonne of White Scars stuff onto that removable arm :P What do you think? Dosjetka
I've been following this and haven't commented for some reason (to awe-struck, I guess). I must say, I just love this whole project and I praise your GS-fu, modelling skills and seemingly endless imagination! Truly amazing. Oh, and I'm happy you've gone with White Scars ;) I've been tossing up ideas for a techmarine, perhaps you could offer some ideas? I'm thinking bare arms on terminator-esque armour (down to the elbows only), to indicate that it is terminatory artificer armour rather than full on TDA. The arms also give more of a barbaric image? So basically, hammer, leather tabard/loin cloth and dirty hands? :) I think the loin cloth would look better, but it's your army after all. I like the bare forearm idea, could look really cool. Also, if you do do a hammer for him (no blacksmith without one ;) ), maybe consider something along the lines of Inquisitor Lord Torquemada's hammer? Cool and deadly yet not to bling-bling? Just my 0.2£. Also, looking forward to your next update :) Ludovic Edit: Added link.
