Pre-Heresy Death Guard Attempt

A local toy shop that stocks GW is running a painting competition, so I thought I'd sign up just to get a few free models! They are only snap-fit marines, but I've used them to attempt a pre-Heresy Death Guard paintjob.

I was really out of my comfort zone with these, as I never usually paint anything bright and clean! It probably wasn't sensible to prime them black either, but I persevered and I think they're looking fairly crisp now.

Let me know what you think, and if they could be improved in any way please say:

They were kind of enjoyable to paint, but I'm totally sick of doing thin layers of Bleached Bone now :P

By the way I know there are gaps in their right arms, they didn't fit together very well so I'll have to fill them.

Very nice mate but I thought Death Guard were white with a green trim, the look more creamy to me.

PS

If you want a good white recipe:

-Black spray

-Astronimcan grey over all white area

-1 or 2 Badab Black washes

-Reapply Astro Grey to all but recesses

-Built up to skull white highlight

-If you want a bit of dirt glaze once or twice with some devlan mud, focussing on the recesses

(Just remember to use thin coats!)

Bloodhowl is right, they are supposed to be an off white color for the armor.

But for what you have I really like! I really like the freehanding and am envious of the Bone color from when I was trying to do my marines in that tone.

Thanks guys - about the bone colour, yes I know they should really be more of an off-white/grey, but I went for this mainly because my post-Heresy Death Guard are a dirty bone colour, so I thought it would be fun to show them before they turned evil! Also, I haven't had any practice with building up greys and whites, so I thought it would be safer to stick with Bleached Bone ^_^

I might try an off-white and green scheme on some old 90s plague marines at some point though.
