zebanash
Hey Guys, Coming back to the game after clearing out my whole army about 2 1/2 years ago, coming back to my beloved blood angels even though the new dex is... funky... i think best describes it. Been reading through B&C to determine a good list but when ordering my models last night i noticed that there's only a metal sang priest available from GW, and no bitz for the apoth arm to even convert one. Anyone have any tips on making a sang priest, i've ordered extra marine JP's but i just don't know where i'm gonna get the apoth arm from. On to the list Librarian, JP, EP, Shield of Sanguinus & Blood Lance - 175 Sang Priest JP - 75 Sang Priest JP - 75 10 Assault Marines, JP, PF, 2 MG - 235 10 Assault Marines, JP, PF, 2 MG - 235 5 VGV, JP, PF, 2 LC - 205 Comments & Criticism welcome :)
Zeller
One option is to craft your own arm peice onto a regular arm. You could opt for either giving the marine a small chalice in hand or arond the waist and giving him the shoulder pads with the chalice embedded on it. The one priest I have that isn't an apothecary by parts but simply has a pistol and lightning claw. His white trim, pads, and small chalice I have yet to make will be enough to show he is the priest. If you've lots of cash then you can order the apthecary bits from the warstore...for 17USD each. I'm not a fan of the EP upgrade. Too costly plus you could have a speeder or MM attack bike for the cost! Also, if you're running the libby with a RAS then I'd suggest taking Unleash Rage to increase the squads melee output. For this I'd replace Blood Lance - personal preference. FC, FNP, and preferred enemy. I'm not entirely sure what the VV offer the list that the RAS can't do unless you intend to HI them into a juicy target. The RAS look standard - solid. Do you intend to move the army as a block with all its parts within support range of each other?
chaplain belisarius
id take some anti tank..maybe some melta attack bikes? (maybe lose the vanguard) just my thoughts on the list...^_^
Leonaides
Ask around? Do you know anyone who does lots of converting on their models? Its probably not a bad idea to pick up a command squad anyway, even if at the moment you only want the apothecary arm. Lots of shiny toys in there to make into VV, DC, alternate special weapons/sergeants etc...
Mezkh
Epistolary is a bit silly with those powers....how often would you Lance and Force weapon in the same turn? Use the points to give your priests some more gear.
zebanash
The plan for this army is to keep the VV in reserve, and to move the army forward into one solid block in order to cause my opponent to choose his targets wisely, then drop the VV onto a juicy target. thanks for the ideas on the priest Zeller, its those kind of responses i'm looking for, unique ways to craft your priest together. Mudpuppet
You could get the apothecary arm and various other bits from a bitz webiste, they are usually about 20-50p each bit. Theres also an example of an excelent conversion in the blood angels showcase somewhere, really good one. Mudpuppet
Demitra
I'm in much the same situation, returning to the hobby after a long absence, so I've been looking into this as well. I think the Command Squad box has bits for an apothecary, mostly an arm and a backpack, though I haven't dug too much to be sure. I've also considered actual apothecary models, but they're all so static that they'd look weird with a jump pack. If the Command Squad box doesn't pan out, I'll probably go with green stuffing a chalice and painting various bits white.
Brother Nathan
your 1k amy is similar to mine but id drop the epistolary upgrade, And i only find i need 1 priest with 2 squads as you want them near to each other for sheild then you only need one priest. And at 1k vanguar vets are meh. I run a baal and vindi insted, great for distracting enemy fire and actually killing stuff. As for apoth, why not buy a command squad box as it has lots of bits you could likely use on conversions or to help make an hounourguard... Emperors Immortals
The command squad contains an apoth torso, head arm and backpack - all are excellant for modeling priests. Personally ive used 2 old models for on foot, painted one regular marine with white trim to show hes a priest and greenstuffed a arm out of a chainsword and one of those scanner things you get in the tac box. Also, at 1k most things a VV can do a RAS can do almost just as well, but with more bodies :)
