Hi there

A while ago I opened a command squad box that I had for ages. I assembles the models and undercoater em, then as always, was distracted and painted something else. Anyways I finally got around to starting to paint them, only thing is I wanna start a salamaner chapter, so painting the comand squad is starting to drag.

I decided that I wanted to kit em out with sum power weapons, ready for some close combat "im a great fan of chopping up my opponent" . . . . .lol. ^_^ I thpought I would use the box set veteans then possibly replace em with the more expencive veteran box set at a later date. That was I could use the old models as pimped up sagents with power weapons, in tactical squads?

Anyways here are sum pics guys, enjoy, thanks :tu

Hi

I blend alot of my colours using 75% paint / 25 water some times. By simply adding that combination on top of, say, regular ultramarine blue it will create a naturally lighter shade once dry. I also mix a small amount of ice blue with ultramarine blue, just to create a subtle shade to highlight areas. As for the edges I find blue, sometimes mixed with black helps define pads and detail features on th armour. B)

My advice would be to expriement, thats how all good painters get there. . . lol. :D

good luck mate, hope to have helped

thanks :D

Thats my problem, I see an exemplary performance online and I assume that if I follow them exactly mine will look exactly the same. Not the case!

Whilst we are on the topic, if I keep respraying and painting won't the quality of the model be compromised?

Sorry for hijacking the thread momentarily :P

thanks guys

As for the model being compromised, you need to manipulate where the light will be coming from, and only highlight and darken the relevent area. It all sounds "OTT" but it all comes together.

My advise is to practice, and to experiment.

Thats a mighty fine command squad... excellently painted as usual. Will def copy your idea on the banner, looks awesome. Cant wait to see it in the flesh. Tell us the full lowdown on how you did it next time I see you at the club if thats ok. Cheers buddy.
