land speeders and jet packers

i'm looking to make my own standard issue blood angels jump pack list, and was wondering how viable it is to have typhoon land speeders as mobile support?, i'm looking to just use the land speeders as a fast but mobile heavy weapons platform (heavy bolter and missile launcher).

friends of mine are saying I should just use a baal predator in my fast slot. however, i want the land speeders to be able to provide long range support as well as be able to fly high into cover if need be. (plus it fits with my theme of an all aerial assault 8th company)

I run an all jump-packs army, and found the LS to work great. I usually go for 1 or 2 squads of 2 LS each, depending on the points, with 1 or 2 Vanguard Veterans squads with Storm Shields in the rest of the Fast Attack slots.

My usual setup for the FA slot is something along the lines of:

2 Land Speeders with MM/HF, 2 Land Speeders with TML/HB, 1 Veteran Vanguard Squad with at least 3 Storm Shields and a Power Fist

or

2 Land Speeders with TML/HB, 2 Veteran Vanguard Squad with at least 3 Storm Shields and a Power Fist

The MM/MF are kamikaze ones, they are here to disrupt. The TML/HB ones are for long range support. VV tie down annoying shooty squads, trying to land with another squad nearby as support to open-up transports before if possible.

I like the "aerial" theme, it's not something I would take in a competitive environnement, but it worked great in my friendly games so far.

I've been running this list:

JP libby

4 x 10 man JP assault squads with splatterings of melta, flamer and PF

3 x JP priests w/PW

2 x typhoon

1 x typhoon

2 x MM/HF speeder

I've played 2 games against the same CSM opponent (he took a different list each time) and I totally pwned both times. It's a great, fun list.

yeah marines are the easiest army to kill though. you have to try out that list VS nids and orks, even guard. When you find it works well consistently VS them, then you got a fearsome tournament list....

I'm yet to try it with the one I got.

But I do like the idea, I tried something similar a long time ago when the codex came out, and the LS are great especially if you have a lot of marines for the enemy to shoot at. Like 2 devastators squads with 2-3 lascannons each, then 2-3 LS per squad of 2 and then just RAS with Priests. At 2000 points I had a very versatile list.
