Auxilliary Grenade Launcher

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I've recently finished my Shadow Captain, and recent feedback has confirmed what I already thought about the 'stuck-on' look of the auxilliary grenade launcher on his jump pack. See pic below:

Can anyone recommend a decent idea for a conversion? I've just drilled out a bolter scope, and it looks decent enough for a barrel, and the attachment section of it looks the part, but it has no grenade feed so it doesn't look that convincing.. The storm bolter I've used doesn't allow for an underslung conversion, so I'm still thinking pack mounted.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

As is it looks good, but you could add a turret or a sponson on top rather than side to show its "lock-on" feature. Its static he would have to move his whole body to fire it. I've always thought about like a "Predator" bolt-caster style AGL right above the shoulders. but since the jump pack is in the way use the intake vents over hangs and mod a turret.

I had an idea of fitting the Grenade launcher from the Scout Bike kit to the jump pack. That is, dead centre and with a bit of clipping, with the ammo running backwards. As if it was completely integrated with the jump pack.

I haven't actually done it - it's just a pile of bitz at the minuite. But from dry-fitting, It looked alright.

Arenis

I'd try to use IG grenade launcher

Thats what's mounted on the pack already (pic above),

The stormbolter I have there is too decorated to take such a conversion, but it's an idea for another model non-the-less, thanks.

Cheers for the replies so far guys. I'm intrigued with the the scout bike grenade launcher idea though, I'm going to look into that right now.

I feel stupid now :P

Btw, the SW Wolf guard terminator sprue has a storm bolter with round ammo drum - it'd save the issue of adequate drum for grenades.

What about a skull servitor? Flying skull shooting grenades from it's mouth...sounds intimidating to me.

You could either mount it on your captain's base or give it its own (like other decorative models)

The more I think about that the more I like the idea, I might very well give that a go too. Cheers!

I am intrigued with the smoke launcher ideas, but the problem I could see with that is that there's no 'feed' as such. I already drilled out a bolter scope, and that looks the part for the barrel, but it doesn't seem as though it would be able to fire something more than once or something. Think the smoke launcher might end up looking the same way...

I've just ordered a grenade launcher and feed off a scout bike on ebay to see if that'll do the trick for the moment. I'll post an update to let you all know how that turns out in a day or two when it comes.

May be worth using a trimmed down Smoke Launcher off the vechicle sprue, possibly taking 2 of the "launchers" off it and mounting it on the side of the jump pack or just trimming the whole thing down a bit, thats what the one from Shrikes model looks like

Ah I did not realize that that's what that is supposed to be... makes sense now though, that's made me feel happier about the smoke launcher ideas now. The scout grenade launcher came today, and it's probably still too big, even if it looks much cooler than the IG one I used before...

My two cents:

Cut the launcher up a bit more and try to make it look like a more integrated part of the JP, sacrificing a bit of the air inlet.

Nice model btw.

Hey man, that was a good idea and all...

Just changed it up already earlier today though:

Went for a servo-skull integrated AGL conversion, (think John Blanche 40k monster type things)
