ravenguard2010
Hi guys, I've recently finished my Shadow Captain, and recent feedback has confirmed what I already thought about the 'stuck-on' look of the auxilliary grenade launcher on his jump pack. See pic below: Can anyone recommend a decent idea for a conversion? I've just drilled out a bolter scope, and it looks decent enough for a barrel, and the attachment section of it looks the part, but it has no grenade feed so it doesn't look that convincing.. The storm bolter I've used doesn't allow for an underslung conversion, so I'm still thinking pack mounted. Any ideas? Cheers. Ramell
Perhaps a Bolter handguard/foregrip with a Bolter or Bolt Pistol barrel? Could work for a Jump Pack mount, maybe? Solid Zaku
I would think taking the smoke launchers kit from a Dread or Rhino would work. Hiro_Protagonist
What about a skull servitor? Flying skull shooting grenades from it's mouth...sounds intimidating to me. You could either mount it on your captain's base or give it its own (like other decorative models) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211696-auxilliary-grenade-launcher/#findComment-2518688 Share on other sites
fivepointedstar
As is it looks good, but you could add a turret or a sponson on top rather than side to show its "lock-on" feature. Its static he would have to move his whole body to fire it. I've always thought about like a "Predator" bolt-caster style AGL right above the shoulders. but since the jump pack is in the way use the intake vents over hangs and mod a turret. Dragonkin Arenis
I had an idea of fitting the Grenade launcher from the Scout Bike kit to the jump pack. That is, dead centre and with a bit of clipping, with the ammo running backwards. As if it was completely integrated with the jump pack. I haven't actually done it - it's just a pile of bitz at the minuite. But from dry-fitting, It looked alright. CainTheHunter
I'd try to use IG grenade launcher - the barrel and ammo-drum. I'd try to add the barrel somewhere on top of the storm bolter and stick the drum its side. Maybe cut out some portion of the drum to fit it sideways. ravenguard2010
I'd try to use IG grenade launcher Thats what's mounted on the pack already (pic above), The stormbolter I have there is too decorated to take such a conversion, but it's an idea for another model non-the-less, thanks. Cheers for the replies so far guys. I'm intrigued with the the scout bike grenade launcher idea though, I'm going to look into that right now. CainTheHunter
I'd try to use IG grenade launcher Thats what's mounted on the pack already (pic above), I feel stupid now :P Btw, the SW Wolf guard terminator sprue has a storm bolter with round ammo drum - it'd save the issue of adequate drum for grenades. Terminatorinhell
What about the chaos vehicle smoke launchers on the top or sides of the pack? ShinyRhino
The smoke launcher ideas are pretty good, if you cut them down to a single barrel. Either the center barrel fromt he Loyalist version, or just one of the bottom barrels from the Chaos version. ravenguard2010
I am intrigued with the smoke launcher ideas, but the problem I could see with that is that there's no 'feed' as such. I already drilled out a bolter scope, and that looks the part for the barrel, but it doesn't seem as though it would be able to fire something more than once or something. Think the smoke launcher might end up looking the same way... I've just ordered a grenade launcher and feed off a scout bike on ebay to see if that'll do the trick for the moment. I'll post an update to let you all know how that turns out in a day or two when it comes. Montuhotep
It's a shame that you can't bits order Shrike's pack anymore, because that's got a nifty little launcher on it - might be enough to give you some ideas, though, even if it's not the best angle in the world: Shrike Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211696-auxilliary-grenade-launcher/#findComment-2520329 Share on other sites
Avarris
May be worth using a trimmed down Smoke Launcher off the vechicle sprue, possibly taking 2 of the "launchers" off it and mounting it on the side of the jump pack or just trimming the whole thing down a bit, thats what the one from Shrikes model looks like Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211696-auxilliary-grenade-launcher/#findComment-2520402 Share on other sites

The scout grenade launcher came today, and it's probably still too big, even if it looks much cooler than the IG one I used before... WingsOfTheFalcon
My two cents: http://c.imagehost.org/t/0816/1_16.jpg Cut the launcher up a bit more and try to make it look like a more integrated part of the JP, sacrificing a bit of the air inlet. Nice model btw. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211696-auxilliary-grenade-launcher/#findComment-2524158 Share on other sites
jsutter
The Sanguinary Guard Angelus Boltguns are drum fed. Maybe one can be used as the base of a grenade launcher conversion. Just changed it up already earlier today though: Went for a servo-skull integrated AGL conversion, (think John Blanche 40k monster type things) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211696-auxilliary-grenade-launcher/#findComment-2524515 Share on other sites

Hemal
It is a single shot weapon - could be preloaded with a grenade launcher... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211696-auxilliary-grenade-launcher/#findComment-2525666 Share on other sites
Quixus
I always thought the auxiliary grenade launcher was something like the M203 or th AG36. it might be a bit much for the storm bolter, but an underbarrel launcher should be doable - at least if you remove/rearrange the strap. Great Model BTW. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211696-auxilliary-grenade-launcher/#findComment-2525697 Share on other sites
maverike_prime
I like the servo skull. hehe I can just see it now. The Captain is carving up one group of Orks when another sees the Floatie tingie and goes to look at it. He taps it with his finger BOOM!!!
