Shinda
Was there ever any documented findings on a Blood Angels 13th Founding sucessor Chapter? I know that the Adeptus Terra does not possess the original gene-seed of the founding Chapters. Does this mean that some of the chapters of that time might have been mixed with the Taint of Chaos? I know this is Heresy brothers but I am one who seeks knowledge. What if the Dark Founding was used to try and gain some of the once had strengths of the Legions long since turned traitor? This aside I was thinking of making a Successor Chapter from this founding with my 2 most favored Marines. The Blood Angels who I is my First army and the Night Lords who are the other reason I got into 40k. I know this would be an odd pairing but after reading Soul Hunter, The Dark King, Lightning Tower and Living on the Blood Angels forum here I was thinking that it would be a rather good pairing. Night Lords (Pre-Heresy) were just about as dark as some of our Successor Chapters. Our Primarchs share something in common with the Precognition they both had. Both love the Sky and Close combat. Any comments would be great. On a side note Is there a Blood angels book just as good as the Night Lord novel Soul Hunter?
Brother-Chaplain Apock
To my knowledge there is no 13th founding successor chapter. There is a fantastic guide to DIYing a chapter found Here which addresses some issues including the founding of a loyalist chapter on traitor gene-seed. Personally, I wouldn't think any chapters would utilize traitor seed and there is also the point of the separation of the legions came after the heresy. But check out that DIY guide, B&C have compiled a wealth of info on the subject. As for your last question, I haven't read Soul Hunter yet but so far the Blood Angel novels haven't been received well at all. It isn't the quality of the writing that is in question as Mr. Swallow is a very talented writer but I think many of us are very disappointed in not only the way our beloved chapter has been made to look but feel that the events which occurred in the novels would never have happened. That isn't to say a book may be forthcoming (PLEASE GOD-EMPEROR MAKE OUR HERSEY BOOK GOOD!)
Inquisitor_Lensoven
i thought the lamenters were 13th founding....black dragons could have been since it doesn't say who their geneseed comes from.

Lamenters are 21st or " The Cursed Founding" as are the Black Dragons.
Vodunius
Black Dragons are noted in the Salamanders IA as being a suspect Salamanders successor. The only 13th Founding chapter GW has ever said anything about is the Exorcists and even that might have been a typo (not an opinion I share), your free to make up your own however. You could always make a regular BA geneseed chapter that became somehow 'contaminated' by the Night Lords in a non-physical way. Maybe the chapter occupied a long-abandoned Astartes fortress whose previous garrison was long lost to history. Maybe one day a lone scout conducting a training exercise in the catacombs beneath the fortress discovered a hidden chamber.. Maybe he found several relics of the previous occupants inside, armour and banners of darkest night emblazoned with a lightning and red leathery wings.. maybe he found a tome bound in human flesh but illuminated with artistry equal in quality to that of the finest Blood Angel scribes, a philosophical treatise on fear and its application in war. Maybe he kept the chamber a secret, and returned there in secret year after year, studying the tome in detail. Maybe its lessons proved valuable to him, first as a Sergeant and later as a Captain.. so much so that he had already passed on many of its lessons to other Captains and Sergeants long before he attained the position of Chapter Master and modified the chapters official doctrines accordingly. Shinda
Thank you Brothers for the help and ideas on making my own Chapter. I have another question though. Why was the 13th Founding called the Dark Founding? there is no real info on it other than what Vodunius has said. Vodunius do you mind if I take a few of those ideas you put out there? Jakobus
The 13th was called the Dark founding because the geneseed was "Lost" from the records. I'm pretty sure Vodunius is right on the Exorcists, but i don't know a great deal about them. But I always figured that the 13th is much like the Lost Primarchs/Legions, something GW has done and either has never intended to release anything for them or they Rick Priestly and Andy Chambers have in a sealed box somewhere
