I had parts of a Tzeentch chaos warband but i Didn't really know what i wanted them to be called. I listened to the album and had instant inspiration. The army is just something that I think would be fun to play and mainly just fun to model and paint. So far this is what I hav come up with. 1. Demon Prince 2. 2x Chaos Space Marines 3. Defiler-description below* Plans on Future Additions 3 Greater Demons 4 more CSM squads 6 Rhinos *Ok on to the Defiler. I HATE the way the defiler looked the way it was but I loved the fact that it is a huge war machine. So I have slightly altered the look. It is about 5/6's completed. I based it on a spider sort of image. i have 4 out of the 6 legs attached so far, and am waiting till I can get the other 2. (yes I do know that spiders have 8 legs not 6) Anyways you shall see shortly. As soon as i get a hand on a camera i will post pictures of what I have so far. The Defiler is really special, maybe not great with playing because the big size. Model atleast looks great and cant wait to see it painted, well done :D . Volgon Posted September 27, 2010 Share Posted September 27, 2010 They look good, but it looks like the blue on their armor is painted lighter colors in seemingly random areas. It's like you were trying to highlight but not in the right spots. I can see it most clearly on the sixth picture, looks like there's a splotch of lighter blue on his shoulder pad. Painterly highlights are look greatl, but are much harder to pull off than lining it all out. I recommend very thin paint, with lots of layers to build up the highlights. Saw this morning on another site and about killed myself. Joking. I guess i didnt read well enough. Anyways until further notice dont look at the future plans part. Im probably going to drop the Greater Demons completely along with the defiler. Most likely pick up a chaos lord on disc with deamon weapon or another demon prince. I want to keep my 6 troop strong army though. I will probably use the 'havocs with plasma in a rhino' trick. And on the marines, do note that I basically just slap the paint on them. I do look for detail a little but mainly just for the models that stick out to me. The method of highlighting i use is somewhat like leaving the darkest in the recesses and then do a wash over top to dull the colors down a little. Things like the demon prince I take a lot more time on. And I hate the Demon Princes base, so eventually I will replace that also. The Defiler is a fun game only type of thing. I will not be using if for any serious game basically because fielding a single defiler in my opinion is a bad idea. know that it is a little on the short side and the wide side but hey, who cares. It's main purpose is to give me a nice distraction from all the marines I'll be painting. I still need the 2 other legs then i think I might try to greenstuff some torn cloth onto some parts. Hopefully my greenstuff work turns out better than on the marines. Some look decent, and some look horrific. Anyways still slowly making progress on the Tzeentch Lord. Stripping the paint of the metal bits then i need to order more bits so it will be a while. <_< Oh one more thing. I am going to pick up some better metalics. The Vallejo Air Steel and Gold. DeathByFear Posted September 28, 2010 Author Share Posted September 28, 2010 Well, Ive been looking over a new list and I was considering putting in a couple squads of havocs with melta in a rhino. Squads of five, no champ. Just 4 meltas and a single normal bolter. I'll probably get another Demon Prince so i can have the Spartan Prince. Anyone see any main weaknesses. I have gotten much better at painting since the demon prince and my WHFB chaos sorcerer on disc. I ended up tearing apart the Sorcerer btw. The gold technique I used was to first paint with boltgun metal, and then cover that with Shining gold and highlight of Burnished Gold. I want to replace that technique with the Vallejo Air Gold and then put steel over the bolters. I will paint Bolter cases on the newly painted ones. Then most likely give a wash over the metallics. The fact that i havent been able to order any bits has really let me think about the model. I really want to convert and paint this guy to the top of my ability. So most likely this is gonna take a long time to finish. I have set my pose for sure though. He is going to be veering the disc away from something. Basically his left arm will be pulling on one of the tines on the disc and the disc will be tilted on its side. he will be glimpsing over the edge of the disc. The olny thing I have to figure out is how I will get the legs. I dont know exactly what is going to work as it is a weird angle to make the pose look right. Ah well, at least I play SW as well as a codex chapter so I get to have a lil more fun I guess. I love the Lord on disk, looks great, he's nice & simple, not over done, which compliments the disk well I feel. The first pic of him painted just seems to say "Behold! The evil that is DELL!!!!!" What are your further plans exactly for the defiler? I really like how sinister & organic it looks like that. It really feels like a living daemon possessed war machine, rather than the standard defiler which I feel looks more like a crewed vehicle. I've been considering doing some paperhammer hellblades. If I can start using the styrene successfully i might add smaller additions to the defiler. One problem i see with the defiler is when looking at it from an overview, there isn't much to the rear end of it. I need something to fill the gap but dont know what. Any ideas?
