Pig Of Sparta
I tried this method out on a Daemon Prince Bust that I'm painting and it seemed to work quite well. A couple of Frater commented on it so I thought I'd put together this Tutorial so you can see how it's done. From the start I'd like to apologise for the quality of the photographs, trying to get my point and shoot camera to focus on something so small is not easy to do. Anyway on with the tutorial. Firstly, these are the paints you'll need: Chaos Black (for undercoating) Space Wolves Grey Skull White Asurmen Blue Wash Other colours for details are completely optional, however I used: Baal Red Wash Golden Yellow Leviathan Purple Wash Mechrite Red Dheneb Stone On to the actual painting: http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/White%20Face/DSCF8988-1.jpg Stage One; undercoat your chosen head/face with Chaos Black (either spray or from the pot it doesn't really matter) http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/White%20Face/DSCF8996-1.jpg Stage Two; paint the whole face/head with Space Wolves Grey http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/White%20Face/DSCF8999-1.jpg Stage Three; wash the Space Wolves Grey area with Asurmen Blue http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/White%20Face/DSCF9002-1.jpg Stage Four; highlight the face/head with Space Wolves Grey http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/White%20Face/DSCF9006-1.jpg Stage Five: paint a final harsh highlight of Skull White onto the most prominant areas. http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/White%20Face/DSCF9007-1.jpg Stage Six; thin down some Asurmen Blue with water and glaze the whole face/head with it http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/White%20Face/DSCF9010-1.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/White%20Face/DSCF9012-1.jpg Finishing up; once the glaze from stage six is dry you can detail the face as you see fit. I used Baal Red to shade the eye sockets before adding a dot of Golden Yellow to the eyes. I then applied a glaze of Baal Red around the eyes to proved some shadow to the yellow eyes and to add some character to the face. The inside of the mouth eas painted Mechrite Red and the teeth were painted Dheneb Stone before the whole mouth was washed with Leviathan Purple. Once the wash was dry I re-touched the teeth with Dheneb Stone. Once again I'd like to apologise for the picture quality, hopefully you can at least make out some of the detail in them. I'll try to take some more photos of the finished head in better light, and if there's interest I can paint another head and try to get better photos of the actual stages. Father Of Incendia
I'm not a huge fan of daemons and stuff... but that does look really cool, even though i had my doubts at the start. awsome work ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211783-painting-hauntedpaledaemonic-faces-and-flesh/#findComment-2519864 Share on other sites
Pig Of Sparta
Thanks Father Of Incendia. I managed to get a slightly better photo of the finished prduct this evening: http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/White%20Face/DSCF9031-1.jpg Hopefully that shows a bit more clearly how all the stages come together at the end  James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211783-painting-hauntedpaledaemonic-faces-and-flesh/#findComment-2520327 Share on other sites

DarKHaZZ13
that is amazing to be honest, for such a quick an easy tutorial, consider it stolen, mulitple, possible thousands of times. thank you =] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211783-painting-hauntedpaledaemonic-faces-and-flesh/#findComment-2520879 Share on other sites
Pig Of Sparta
Glad you all liked it. Only trouble is I need to make a body for this head now! BUt it's ok as the wheels in my head are already turning :) cheers James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211783-painting-hauntedpaledaemonic-faces-and-flesh/#findComment-2521089 Share on other sites

Pig Of Sparta
Thanks for the compliment Guyver, it was well timed :D I've just been browsing some of the GD entries on the GW website and thinking how far below them my painting skills are. I've just had a thought, one that would bear trying out if it hasn't been done already. If you kept the process for painitng the white the same as I detailed above but changed the wash you were using I think you'd get some equally 'spooky' results, particularly from Baal Red, Leviathan Purple and Thraka Green. cheers James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211783-painting-hauntedpaledaemonic-faces-and-flesh/#findComment-2522398 Share on other sites

Dutchwing
Great tutorial, I will be using this for my DP, and if I like how it turns out, maybe some daemonettes as well. Also great for my IW Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211783-painting-hauntedpaledaemonic-faces-and-flesh/#findComment-2735488 Share on other sites
Iron_Adam
How would you go about painting a pale face, but not demonic. More like an iron hands marine who hasn't seen the sun in a while, but not dead like a servitor. I no good at faces, I'd at least like to get the colors right Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211783-painting-hauntedpaledaemonic-faces-and-flesh/#findComment-2761496 Share on other sites
