Rachnus
Hello gentlefolk, I'm working on getting to 2k points by the start of October for a friendly tourney at my FLGS, and I'd like some advice on what to add to my army thus far. This is just a list of what I do have - I realize some things, like the Iron Priest, don't make much sense in isolation, but I was thinking of getting some Ven Dreads for him to pal around with (Because I really, REALLY hate tanks). I guess I'm just asking how best to expand to a well-rounded 2k points. So, without further ado, what I've got: HQ: 715 pts. Canis Wolfborn w/ Fenrisian Wolf x2 Wolf Lord w/Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Fenrisian Wolf x2, & Saga of the Beastslayer Rune Priest w/Jaws of the World Wolf, Living Lightning, Runic Armor, Jump Pack, & Saga of the Warrior Born Wolf Priest w/Runic Armor Elites: 65 pts. Iron Priest w/Cyberwolf Troops: 385 pts. Grey Hunter x10 w/Meltagun x2 & Power Fist Grey Hunter x10 w/Flamer x2 & Power Weapon Fenrisian Wolf x5 Fast Attack: 155 pts. Thunderwolf x2 w/Storm Shield & Frost Blade x1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211801-working-on-getting-up-to-2k/ Share on other sites

Rachnus
more grey huntersLongfangs.... Do land speeders count as tanks? Scouts.... Grey Hunters I can do, Longfangs I'm not so sure (Is there a dedicated kit for them? Specifically, is there a kit that comes with 5 missile launchers?), Land Speeders I can handle, and scouts... The thing is, I'm doing a Chaos army using SW rules, and while I assume cultists would work as scouts, I don't know of a good place to get the models for that. Grey Mage
Try Tallarn Desert Raiders, green stuff them up a lil more, use them as cultists. Id run two squads if your going tank light, and some kind of counts-as landspeeder Typhoon. Two of them. Squadroned or not. *shrugs*. And... Id go with squadroned. So you can throw down 30 Fenrisian Wolves in two squads of 15, as daemon packs, to run forward as a screen tie up enemy units if they can. A Daemon Prince as a TWM'd Wolf Lord wouldnt go amiss either- with his own personal daemonic attendants. And a Sorceror, or two, with Stormcaller and an offensive power or Tempests Wrath, to provide cover. After that- 40, or 50 Grey Hunters. As for Long Fangs- there is no kit, the SM Devastator Kit combined with the Wolf Pack usually works, but your doing chaos- Id suggest talking to other players and trading bitz. Long fangs you would need to buy the devistator box set and wolf/chaos them up from there..... i think the standard box only comes with 2 missle launchers? youd either have too buy a couple of boxes or look on ebay for bits.... Scouts... well there are alot of customer ways to make them, but if you want to do somthing differnet youd have to get creative and see whats around.... Forge World's too rich for my blood for just cultists, but perhaps kitbashing an Empire Flagellant Warband from WHFB with some scouts or IG might work... The wolves I will see about acquiring more of, not sure about whether or not I want Landspeeders... Depends on how much I like the kit, really. Already got a Wolf Lord riding a tri-headed juggernaut for Canis. For the Sorcerer I already have (JotWW/LL), which power should I replace? As for Grey Hunters... I'm fairly sure 40 of them would push me past 2k  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211801-working-on-getting-up-to-2k/#findComment-2519954 Share on other sites

Check the collectors range- they sell them in squads, or by weapon. And 40 GHs, with special and SCCWs, but no transports... is about 875pts. SM scouts and IG have a bit different width - about 1mm on each side, so usually torsos from scouts and hands from IG don't come together smootlhy without some tweaking. I've seen good job done with IG catachans and chaos fantasy marauder bits. I'll have to look more closely, thanks for the tip. I think I know how to do the Landspeeder, too - The Fell Beasts from the LotR range, heavily converted of course, would work very well, I think. Thunderwolf x2 w/Storm Shield & Frost Blade x1 Way too many leaders at that point level. Just because you can have 4 leaders does not mean you should just to try and make it to 2000. It's too much short till 3000 or perhaps even higher. I would remove the Wolf Priest entirely and Thunder Lord with Hammer. Or Make the Wolf Lord Carry a Frost Blade instead and get rid of Caius and the Fen Wolves. Also, a Rune Priest is not a combat class, hence a lot of the equipment is simply unnessiary. Take off the Jetpack and Runic Armour and that will save you another 45 points. The Iron Priest wth a single Cyber Wolf is also rather unnessiary, you could pretty much get the same thing in a Lone Wolf for 15 points less with additional perks. From there I would: Get 2 Packs of Long Fangs with missles. If you don't have Tanks, you need at least 2 full packs. These will provide your long ranged fire and I would easily consider more. Give your Thunderwolf the Power Fist or Thunder Hammer at strength 10. Unlike Wolf Lords, they cannot be picked out and don't gave inti 5 which means it's less of a waste. Strength 10 will instant kill practically anything short of a tank or monsterious creatures. With the remaining points, you can probably afford to get more Thunder Wolf to buff that threat up, either more 3 packs of 2 Thunder or buff them to 2 packs of 3 Thunder Wolf with Hammer/Fist. These will provide a good swift threat that can most likely serve as your pure hand to hand combat unit. Plenty of demons is always good. Then as said, more Grey Hunters is always good, just make sure you get some mobile pressence to make up for their lack of mobility.
