Candleshoes
Forgot to put up some pictures of my little tribute to Blood Angels, painted back when the codex was released. My version of a standard 3rd Company "Ironhelm" tactical marine, 4th squad, shortly after the death of Captain Tycho (as indicated my the black trim of Mourning on the shoulders). I also wanted to throw in a little hazard pattern on the foot cable out of tradition, as well as really try to bring out the eyes and "face" of the marine. It was also my first time mixing snow for bases. Hope you like it. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p113/Darkbeastman/5.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p113/Darkbeastman/6.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p113/Darkbeastman/2.jpg As an end note, I will be placing up on the first week of October the beginnings of my Alpha Legion army. Koriel
Very nice and clean mini, well executed paint job. Love the dark red tone (atleast it looks darker then gw's!), how'd you achive it? Keep up the good work :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211803-ironhelm-3rd-company/#findComment-2519967 Share on other sites
AlexCrute
Lovely. A bit lonely though... don't let that red recipe go to waste! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211803-ironhelm-3rd-company/#findComment-2520042 Share on other sites
Candleshoes
Thanks! The red recipe (which is A LOT darker in real life) was something I was actually going to use to paint a Flesh Tearer, but I tried it on a more gloomy Blood Angel Brother. - Start with a black undercoat and a Mechrite Red basecoat. - Blood red is applied except in the recesses of the armor - make sure that when this dries it is in an even coat, dont worry if some of the darker red pokes through. - a wash all over the armor of Devlan Mud, not just in the cracks, to dull it. - highlights are pure blazing orange and a final highlight of pure vomit brown. - Baal Red wash over the whole model to tone everything down. This is very similar to the GW way, but the complete Mud wash, as opposed to just putting it into the cracks, makes for a much darker final product.
