inquisitor costume

hey guys, im in the planing stage of making a inquisitor costume, and i want YOUR opinion on what should and should not be in that costume.

 

im thinking a long leather trench coat (is it still a trench coat if its made of leather?)

 

other than that i have close to no idea, maybe a las pistol and some kind of shoulder armor?

 

please help me!

for 40k I'd first decide on which kind of ordo you're planning to do. The Witch Hunters tend to look like fantasy witch hunters with futuristic stuff like bionics etc. - where the deamonhunters are rather warrior priest types.

 

As it sounds like you're going for the Ordo Herectus kinda look I'd say the coat is a great place to start, get some decent looking boots and pants, preferably the 1700 look (I think) that the fantasy guys use. Now, for the chest you can do some sort of armor, but it usually ends up looking a bit weird, so I'd say that you go with a long shirt (like the GW herectus inquisitor lord) or something similar and just load it up with gadgets. Have all sorts of things hanging at your belt and across your chest - glowing stuff, leather bags, skulls, scrolls and Inquisition =][= etc.

For weapons I would go with a replica gun from around the 1700 again and modify it to look more futuristic (adding lazer always works :D) and perhaps ingraving to give it an ancient, revered look ("Suffer not the heretic to live" along the barrel, for instance).

 

If you're handy with the stuff you do LARP weapons of, you could easily make a standart sword, give it some square power pack something along the handle and try to paint it a bit power-sword-ish. Otherwise an ordinary LARP sword - or even a replica sword - with modifications would look awesome I think

 

The hardest and the best part will be all the trinkets. Make an Inquisition =][= out of wood and paint it up, make or buy leather pounches, craft a leather belt or buy one you can ordinate with qoutes or appropriate symbols, create purity seals etc. etc.

Yeah, this will probably do. Just add some skulls and pauldrons and you'll be good to go.
