I have to say of all the units in all the armies Assault Marines are my favourite

Now as a normal marine army owner i have none purley since i found them lacking .

Then i bought the BA dex just to see what they were like and i was hooked .

My only problem is making a viable list with as many Assault marines in it as poss:(

I have one list which i have posted , but Guys, have any of you had the same delema be it with Assault Marines or any other unit ,if so how did you address this?

My suggestion is to utilize the glory that is Vanguard Veterans, the Heroic Intervention is a life saver for all Deep Striking armies. I'd probably get 2 units of Vanguard each with the PW on the SGT and a PF somewhere. Putting 10 guys that can assault after deep strike is a wonderful way of keeping the rest of your force alive for the turn that they deep strike. Assaulting the right units can effectively block line of sight from some of your opponents shooting, hence the small squad size, anything larger would risk wiping out their target and still taking fire.

If you go infantry heavy a sanguinary priest with jump pack might be a good idea also while I personally am not a fan the sanguinor becomes better with lots of assault troops around him.

If you want as many assault troops as possible I suggest taking as many assault squads as possible, a 10 men squad with 2 melta guns and a power fist costs 235 points. For HQ you'll probably do best with the reclusiarch since the boost when charging is pretty awesome when he's combined with a 10 men squad.

Add a priest and you're looking at a squad that get 25 S5 attacks with re-roll to hit at initiative 5 + 3 Power fist attack + the reclusiarchs attack, kills most squads without taking any losses.

Keep in mind that the weakness of such an army is a lack of fire support. But considering how many marines it would field that might not even be that much of a problem.

There are a few BA special characters that benefit from assault-heavy armies.

Sanguinor, as Drachnon said, since he basically 'roids out one of your sergeants and gives everyone around him an extra attack.

Astorath ups your chance to Red Thirst your squads at the beginning of the game and making them ANGRY with Furious Charge and Fearless.

Dante doesn't aid the whole army as such, but give him an elite unit to drop in with and his Hit and Run and lack of DS scatter will make said unit extra formidable.
