Imperialis_Dominatus Posted September 27, 2010 Share Posted September 27, 2010 Solid painting so far. Love the Apostle, that helmet lends itself so well to Chaplain models (even Chaotic ones). The Dread is awesome, though the paint looks a little thick. What did you use for his weapons? EDIT: Also, the Sorcerer looks a little threadbare. I understand if you're trying to keep him from outshining the Apostle but as a character model I think he could use... something. A tabard maybe. Brother Dakath Posted October 1, 2010 Author Share Posted October 1, 2010 The dread's paint might look thick for two reasons: #1: He was an old Black Templar dread I had lying around and I just ended up spraying him #2: The spray can decided to stop working and then did an uber spray at one second. I used the swords off of a God of War action figure I bought at FYE but that my daughter lost all the parts to, I chopped off the handles and stuck them on. I understand about the sorceror, I was just sitting at my desk and decided to try and make a model I needed, which ended up being a sorceror. The Terminators are nicely-painted, can't wait to see what you do with the standard bearer. The sorcerer does look a bit plain, I agree with Imperialis_Dominatus, a tabard would go nicely. Brother Dakath Posted October 24, 2010 Author Share Posted October 24, 2010 I used the Chaos Black undercoat spray can, then I painted the red on the armor with Mecharite Red Foundation Paint, the silver is Boltgun metal, and the gold is Shining Gold. Then I used a heavy Badab Black wash over the whole figure, red and metal alike. The eyes are three layers, Gnarloc Green, Snot Green and then a final highlight of Scorption green. The highlights for the red are Blood Red. The bone/skulls are chaos black undercoat, with Scorched Brown, then drybrush a layer of Bleached Bone and then another drybrush of Skull White, finish it off with Brown Ink (I still have old pots of old ink).....though I think I need to do a final drybrush over that for more of a bone color. I have a Rhino, a full squad with an Icon of Khorne, and the Terminator Icon fully painted; I will try to get up the pics of those and the new additions that I have added to the army up as soon as I can. Cythzar, trying to get pics but due to some legal mumbo jumbo with the ex wife I've been pre-occupied.....though a lot of painting has been accomplised.
