Quixus
I'm thinking about building a unit which shall function as a Sanguinary Guard for my DIY Chapter. The unit should have a dragon-like look to it. As Jump packs i would copy Dark Bjoern's idea (you may need to scroll up a bit) and if I find suitable lizard/dragon heads those shall represent the death masks. I may go for normal helmets and use them as Vanguard Veterans. You can probably see that the nipple-armor of the Sanguinary guard doesn't fit this theme, So here is my question, which bodies should I use? Command Squad is a bit expensive but you get some special weapons, and the RAS may look a bit bland. Olgerth Istaarn
There is no "scaly" armor out there that I can think of, but for fancier chests, you can always tap the Death Company range. Once you scratch off all the chalices and blood drops, it has amazing extra detail. BOBMAKENZIE
You might look into Dark Elf Corsair Cloaks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212010-counts-as-sanguinary-guardvgv/#findComment-2522747 Share on other sites

I don't mind the blood drops too much. You might look into Dark Elf Corsair Cloaks.Nah, I'm looking for power armor. I don't think, billowing cloaks are such a good idea near the jump pack engines. But this is a good suggestion for land-bound Elites/HQs. Thanks for the suggestions. At least one shoulder pad is already selected. The Alpha Legion pads are to cool to pass up. BTW, why is there only one head on the pad? Shouldn't a Hydra have more? Makes a cool pad for Salamanders or other draconic chapters, though. BOBMAKENZIE
Scales are pretty easy to sculpt yourself then. If you want to do up shoulder pads or patches of scale work instead. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/Bobmakenzie/Salamanders/HeavyDreads.jpg Looking for something abit like whats done on the dreads then maybe? Quixus
That looks good. I will probably do that on the greaves and the other shoulder pad. So RAS bodies should work. Now what to do with the weapons? For the SG I'd need some good looking two-handed weapons and wrist-mounted bolters. Olgerth Istaarn
Why not just take Sanguinary stuff for weapons? Their arms look quite neutral (unlike the faux-muscular faux-bare legs), and their power weapons are gorgeous. Quixus
Because that is another kit, for which I do not have too much use. Also I don't like the hand-guards on the sword. I found something else that looks quite promising as weapons for the sanguinary guard: Two-handed weapons from MaxMini, and they actually are glaives :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212010-counts-as-sanguinary-guardvgv/#findComment-2525028 Share on other sites
