Erasmus of Baal
Yes, GW has one metal model for the Sanguinary Priest, and two for the Apothecary that would also work. Yes, there's one arm-thingie and one backpack in the Command Squad box. What I'm wondering is, how are all of you making your Sanguinary Priests? Are you just using these premade packages, or custom-building Narthecii? Or do you simply ignore that thing on the Priest's arm? yodaid764
For my jump pack SP I took the narthecium arm, a bolt pistol arm and then cut off the light and scanner thingy from the apothecary back pack. I attached those 2 things to the jump pack and called it good. MaleOpener
I plan to use the plastic pieces in the command/Death Company/Sang Guard to make my Novitiate the look his status deserves. Brother Nathan
Dont need a narthesium as he has a blood chalice rules wise so i just used lots of chalice parts on his armour. Havent had a complaint yet Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212053-sanguinary-priest-narthecium/#findComment-2522693 Share on other sites
JamesI
My priests are made out of: 2 Apothecary models I already owned (both with jump packs and power weapons), Corbulo, and the new blister Priest model (used as the Novitiate in an HG) I figure its easier to make the priests look like apothecaries to eliminate questions (especially since I have no ability to model chalices). zebanash
I asked this question about a week ago, seems most folks just add a chalice to the model and thats more then enough to signify that he's a priest. For myself, i went down to the local hobbyist store and just looked for really small cups, then just added a bit of GS to it and stick it on an arm. MaleOpener
Pieces from the Death Company kit have grails on them. I plan to use these, and just paint the "X" either a bone or gold color. I'll go with the fluff that its a reminder of their oath to the Chapter. bloodancient
See now I go an almost totally different way I do lots of gold and White on them. white on the shoulders add the double helix(well kinda more like single helix) instead of chapter badge and invert the colors for the novitiate or use the Sang angel shoulderpads sometimes both. Haunter!
I hate the idea of the "Chalice of blood." You can't perform invasive surgery with a bloody cup. Well, I guess you could, but I doubt it'll be very effective. I've been using the one from the Command Squad. It's a little annoying to cut and repose the hand, but hey, I only have to do it three times. BOBMAKENZIE
We still use Exsanguinators in my mind on the model or not. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212053-sanguinary-priest-narthecium/#findComment-2522950 Share on other sites

You've never heard of meat bowl surgery? <_< My guys use skull cups/grails riveted to the tops of their backpacks. If anyone asks, (no one has) I'm gonna invoke the batman defense and point at their utility belts. garfey
I've just bought 2 of the Narthecium arm's from a bits site, and i'm kit bashing a DC / SG based model - I reckon I'll just cut the arm above the Narthecium and put it on some other arms. Side question, could the SP be holding a CC weapon in that arm? Pistol or Sword it doesn't matter. The model has the hand free so I would think so, but just wondered what the consensus was, Ta! Glitch85
Just the thread I was looking for, my army is strongly in need of some Sanguinary Priests and was just going to ask what model to use. IronKobra
I have used the Apothecary left arm and included one of the Sang Guard pads with a grail on it. I wasn't into the idea of giving each priest an actual grail. In the old fluff Corbulo was the only priest who carried one. I also clipped the medical do-hickies off the plastic apothecary bodies and fitted them to an assault marine torso so give them more of the look of a field surgeon. And being a big fan of the SG winged jump packs I added these to give them more character. I kind of plan on keeping the theme going right through all of my Priests. I'll show you my kit bashed examples: http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab36/IronKobra84/SPS8.jpg http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab36/IronKobra84/SPS9.jpg http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab36/IronKobra84/SPS5.jpg http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab36/IronKobra84/SPS3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212053-sanguinary-priest-narthecium/#findComment-2523279 Share on other sites
igotsmeakabob!!
My priests have either a narthecium arm from the honor guard box or some sort of grail on their person.
