JMac
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/28e45381c4.jpg It is a D&D model, called Rime Hound. The base is huge, it barely fits a 60mm base (in fact its feet just hang over the edges of the base). It just came out and am working on a conversion for my wolf lord. I'll put up WIP when I have it... Thoughts? Comments? Edit: Almost forgot the best part, the model only cost $5 US Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212100-possible-twm/ Share on other sites
Marshal Wilhelm
It's okay from this photo, nothing special and nothing terrible. $5 is great. We'll have to see it with your guy on it. Myxx
A bit of GS and a good paint job should do the trick. The biggest problem I have had with D&D minis are that the plastic is really weak and doesn't hold up to converting too well, and they are a pain to paint over. The plastic is too smooth and sealed for paints to take well. Growler67
I like the pose but I would pesonally GS the entire pelt, that is just too wirey for me to say it's fitting or attracive in any way. Great head as many aren't quite as good or dynamic. Good Luck on your conversion !!! Taeken
A bit of GS and a good paint job should do the trick. The biggest problem I have had with D&D minis are that the plastic is really weak and doesn't hold up to converting too well, and they are a pain to paint over. The plastic is too smooth and sealed for paints to take well. I've noticed the same issues. The simple solution I've found is to soak them for a day in Purple Power. Scrub like mad to get the paint off. Then reprime and go at it. Does the trick pretty well. So you save $ in buying a cheap mini, but have more work to do. Also do NOT use plastic glue on D & D plastic mini's. As Myxx said, the plastic is very soft. You will melt away your mini. asmodai650
Should these and the Hero-Clix Fenris Wolf be added to the sticky up top? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212100-possible-twm/#findComment-2524327 Share on other sites
Myxx
I've used automotive primer to cover D&D models before painting and it does a good job of sticking and making a good base to paint to. The problem is that its athick primer and its designed to fill scuffs and scrapes in metal, so you lose a lot of detail on the models. wolfpack
for those of you states side...walmart has a black or white primer that is around a buck a can...it works great for covering plastics and doesn't go on too thick...works very well on D&D models as it's an oil based primer...I have used it on several wolf models from various ranges without losing detail like fur texture and muzzle details...I like the look of this model...and after your done modeling it...well will have to see...I'm still partial to the mythicast but after hearing the horror stories about their shipping...this would be viable if the scale is correct Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212100-possible-twm/#findComment-2525219 Share on other sites
