Demoulius
hello gents, been gladly using my SoS+UR liby a while now and im wondering if anyone has any good experience with any of the other powers? some seem...substandard compared to these 2 cookie cutter options... theyre just to good not to pick... any thoughts on this? igotsmeakabob!!
Considering the cost of an Epistolary upgrade, I almost never take Sword and Unleash on the same librarian. You can't use them in the same turn sans a costly Epistolary upgrade which doesn't even give you a stat boost. I tend to take Shield of Sanguinius (for use in my opponent's turn) and Unleash, Sword, or Lance for use in my turn (or my opponent's in the case of cc). The only time I've taken two offensive powers has been on Terminator Librarian. Lance and Unleash (rerolls to hit with those terminator power fists? yes please). Volcatus
I've had some success with Shield and Fear, with the Librarian in a Rhino. Fear works brilliantly for shifting troops off of objectives, or for forcing heavy weapon squads out of cover, etc. I've sent Tau units off the table edge a few times as well. Morticon
Dem - whenever I wasnt running mephy i was rocking a rage/fear libby. I think the tactical flexibility of that combo is epic!! The double fear list also did well in the tournament. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212203-librarian-powers/#findComment-2524251 Share on other sites
Rybnick
Other that UR/SoS I've used only the Blood Lance power. It worked well but UR is just too handy to have. I've considered trying Fear on a few occasions, but I prefer a power that is universally useful like UR as opposed to one that is fairly situational. I would like to try Fear for fun someday though. JamesI
Not counting the Libby dread, the only powers I've used so far are lance, rage and shield. I want to try fear, may squeeze the Morticon Libby into my next list. Another idea I've considered was fear/Might. Run the libby in the same unit as Astorath to give Astorath the extra attacks at high initiative and strength. Erasmus of Baal
One guy that I talked to had major successes with the "Shackle Soul" power. His favorite example (one that I did not see), was that he, using this power, prevented a squad of Terminators from doing anything at all in one particular turn. If the enemy has (I would say) Ld9 or less frequently in their army, Shackle might be a good buy. Demoulius
shackle is a LD test IIRC right? if so it should work on fearless units and big blobs of orks  lance sounds nice until you factor in its (possible) very limited range and that fact that models get a cover save at the drop of the hat :cuss ive been considering using smite for ranged power but its range is so small...the unit will be in combat the next turn ;) so unless you target stuff like veterans or such the power is wasted i think... Yes, shackle is a Leadership test very specifically...good one, my friend.... I haven't played much, but I've never seen the Blood Lance really do much. It failed to even damage a Land Raider twice. :D I view Smite as a boosted Plasma Pistol, relaly. You get a few pretty nice shots in before the combat even begins, mathhammer says you can do 2 wounds before you even charge. Does not suck when thought of in these terms. (Smite has actually been more successful for me than Blood Lance.) vharing
my favorite combo is unleash rage and and might of heroes. put the libby in an assault squad with a sarge with power fist. has worked great for my every time. no one expects you to throw might on the PF Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212203-librarian-powers/#findComment-2524622 Share on other sites
Brother_Dan'l
I've used FotD a few times and had some limited success. MoH is always a winner on the Furioso Librarian because you really need those extra attacks after Wings got you into the fight last turn and now you've lost the Charge bonus. Fear and Shackle are both winners in APOCALYPSE games where you can have a Culexus Assassin sneak up on the baddies. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212203-librarian-powers/#findComment-2524636 Share on other sites
SamaNagol
Fear of the Darkness + Shield of Sanguinius in a Mech list is absolutely golden. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212203-librarian-powers/#findComment-2524804 Share on other sites
Demoulius
think il give FotD a try next game that il be using my liby then :) only dilemma that i have is the second power :P UR to use him as a sort of makeshift chaplain has worked wonders (more rerolls due to more turns as well) and SoS has saved countless of my marines lives so far as well (even if its just a 5+ save) so...hmmm dilemma ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212203-librarian-powers/#findComment-2524929 Share on other sites
