The Holy Heretic
An inquisitor should travel in style instead of a little tank. So I'm looking for a scale model set to start and convert from. The idea is to use the rules for the chimera, and then mod the scale model with a bunch of plasticard and odd bits to give it that 40K feel. So any idea of what scale would fit - and possible links to a great model to start from? Thanks guys ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212237-to-travel-in-style/ Share on other sites
Inquisitor Fox
I actually use a Land Raider for my HQ Inquisitor, as it also doubles as a anti-tank platform for my Witch Hunters army (mmm... non-inducted twin-linked lascannons). Granted it's very expensive, but then the enemy has to decide to try and bring down the Exorcist, or to dent the AV14 Land Raider. That usually buys me a bit of time ;) In terms of a Limo... Ironically you might be able to convert an Ork Trukk, or perhaps some of the newer Forge World Elysian Tauros vehicles perhaps. Maybe a combination of the two for something already 40K and the right scale. Sister Rosette Soulknyt
Good idea on the limo, for me, buy two of the tank you plan to convert then go ahead with the plati-card filling in the spaces. Me, i agree a LR is so much more effective in battles, especially for fire-power. I use a LR Promethius. 12 heavy bolter shots, re-rolling misses, a multi melta and a hkm, yes its expensive, but i figure if there shooting at that and not th excorsists then its worth it. I also find its great for taking out whole squads very easily. Last but not least, it gives you Flanked March strategam.....very handy to flank 6 penitant engines or Dominion squads. The Holy Heretic
Well, its not really efficiency thats the hassle - I haven't played since Rogue Trader :cuss - but I've decided to give it a go once again and attend a tourney in november. The army will be 1750 pts. Basically a GK Redeemer raider with 5 termies and a grand master + 2 dreads - to give the grey knights a decent presence on the field. Then 2x6 DKoK Stormtroopers with plasma, melta and rhinos A vindicare assassin. And an inquisitor in a chimera with 2 hvy bolter servitor, multi-melta servitor, mystics and sages. And check this model out that I just ordered: http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/misc/ve...rownleeba20.htm Think, I'll be widening the chassis, adding armour plates, shooty holes, perhaps dumping the wheels for a hover limo and other nifty stuff to make it worthy of a 40K inquisitor - and chimera stats :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212237-to-travel-in-style/#findComment-2524869 Share on other sites
Lord_Hail
Love the idea, just hope that some rules guro don't throw the book saying it's not majority GW, while he subs in a titian with pipe cleaner. If you still have any of your old White Dwarf magazines from the Rogue Trader days, see if you can find any of the ones with Genestealers in them. The old Genestealer Magus and Covens used to ride around in some pretty slick looking Limos on the tabletop - you could always try to replicate one of those. The Holy Heretic
Work has begun on the little limo. Its currently awaiting the new autocannon out of the factories on Ishtarr IV, but I hope you like it :P http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0167.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0166.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0165.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0164.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0163.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212237-to-travel-in-style/#findComment-2532764 Share on other sites
Myxx
Hee hee. Awesome. Love the guns on the front and the turret above the cabin. If 40k runs on the "rule of cool" you sir, rule! The Holy Heretic
Here with a little paint on it, so you can see, where its heading :) http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0172.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0171.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0170.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0169.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212237-to-travel-in-style/#findComment-2533575 Share on other sites

Dark Apostle Thirst
That looks more like an old school carriage than a limo to me, but that's ok, I still think it's pretty awesome. If you still can, you should model a new door with the one lady inquisitor (or was it canoness? She looks appropiate for the ride, you'll probably know what I'm talking about) stepping out of the limo, gun poiting straight up (at the rest), to give a kind of diginified, superiour feel, as well as a great showcaing model. Well, a better showcasing model, it's already great. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212237-to-travel-in-style/#findComment-2533882 Share on other sites
The Holy Heretic
Thanks guys :) @NExOBLIVISCARIS its supposed to be a 'chimera'. In the pre-paint pictures you can see the turret, and I have put in an order with Forgeworld for an aircraft autocannon (or two) to arm it with. @Dark Apostle Thirst Yeah, the limo died somewhere in the process. A result of widening the chassis and trouble with extending the length, so it got a more stunted 'beetle' look. But its my first attempt at scratchbuilding and playing with plasticard, so I learnt a few lesson for when I get the idea to have an extra go at a proper limo - love the idea of adding a few figs to the car itself, for a little extra dynamic. But the finishing touches for this one will be the autocannon for turret, and then I'm probably gonna raise it by adding a base to it with some concrete slabs or something - just to make it look a little more imposing among my stormtrooper rhinos and GK land raider :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212237-to-travel-in-style/#findComment-2533952 Share on other sites

Validar
could you show the scale of it, please? Just beside a normal rhino. As much as I love your idea, I can't help thinking that compared to other 40k vehicles it is simply too big Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212237-to-travel-in-style/#findComment-2535153 Share on other sites
Eddie Orlock
As much as I love your idea, I can't help thinking that compared to other 40k vehicles it is simply too bigBased on the size of the wheel and the scale of the stock heavy bolters I'd say it's about right. Warhammer is in a strange scale anyway, for the most part the models are too short and wide, vertical scale is not the same as horizontal. The Holy Heretic
Did a couple of pics next to a rhino, so you can see the scale. So about the same length, a little lower, except for the turret :) http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0174.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/the_red_scourge/Limo/IMG_0173.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212237-to-travel-in-style/#findComment-2535518 Share on other sites
Validar
hmm, that actually helps a lot. I still think the trunk (front thingie) should be slightly smaller (since it has room for atleast 4 space marines when you look at the rhino :)) but the rest is actually pretty fair, considering the inside will be more of a library/research center/headquater Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212237-to-travel-in-style/#findComment-2535539 Share on other sites
