Still a WIP (some parts are bluetac'd on, sword and scroll need cleanup, etc.) but this my new librarian:

is he going to get an assault pack? I love the pose. That sword is sinister and the book/hood/cable combo is excellent.

My only crit would be that he doesn't spell Raven Guard at this current stage. What are your plans?

I will probably magnetize it so he can either go drop pod or jump pack.

I was thinking about putting this pack on him for drop pod deployment:

love the pose mate! Where did you get that book from?

Oh I guess the blade is supposed to be that way around? From the angles, it initially looks like it's backwards.

Thanks! The book is from the plastic Empire Flagellants. I bought a flagellants books and banners lot on ebay for a $2.50.

The sword is a falcata like shown here: http://museumreplicas.com/p-219-falcata.aspx

Great model there! Where did you get the horned skull shoulder pad from please?

Thanks! The shoulder pad is from Chapterhouse Studios: http://chapterhousestudios.com/webshop/com...;category_id=17

Greetings brother, might I suggest a Sanguinary Guard jump pack? Certainly saves sculpting wings like those out of plasticard or whatever. Then again the jump pack on The Redeemer of The Lost has more aggressive looking wings that arch over the shoulders somewhat, you'd probably have to cut off the parchment that hangs from the bottom of the pack but I doubt that would be a problem for you.

P.S. That Force Sword reminds me of a Bowie Knife, perfect for silently carving open the throats of fools in the dead of night...

I tried fitting a Sang Guard pack on, but the intake vent is blocked by the psychic hood. I might be able to cut it off and mount in the top of the unit. The normal jump pack is a bit narrow for the hood, but I can probably widen the gap a bit without distorting the shape too much.

  • 2 weeks later...

Here is an update to the model. Added the scroll cases, key, pouches, grenades, and glued everything up. Just some minor cleanup to do before the primer.

Just a shout out that I think it would be an extremely rad detail if you added the ram-horns to the chest-plate skull as well. :)

Looking incredibly good so far already though, the plasticard (I assume that's what it is anyway?) work is awesome! Something about the ankle-purity seal does look off though.

Cheers,

One of the best librarians I have ever seen. I've been looking for some way of making the weapons of my next army abit unique, and you just solved it for me. Can't believe I didnt think of the falcata ^_^

And, btw, the Raven Guard-backpack, is that sculpted or is it some kind of plasticard or something?

I carved one wing out of thick plasticard (well 3 pieces sandwiched together) and then made a mold of it. The wings on the backpacks are cast from resin using the Alumilite starter kit.

He looks great, man. I love the detailing, and overall the piece is just wonderful.

Where did you get that key from??

Thanks!

The key is all strip styrene. A very thin slice of a small diameter tube makes up the ring the chain is through (the bow), the shank is a piece of solid rod, the bit (the square toothy part) is a small piece of rectangular strip.
