New Forgeworld Stuff

I don't know who has/hasn't seen this yet:

See this rather beatiful model.

I know the Lion is typically portrayed as wielding his sword, which in itself is a powerful emblem for the chapter as a whole, however... It is said that the Primarchs had many weapons at their disposal, favouring some over others, but owning a formidable arsenal none the less. I've always thought that the Lion had to own a pair of collosal feline lightning claws. Now when i saw the above model i did a double take and a big smile appeared on my face. The right claw of the Lugft Huron model is spot on for how i imagined they would be.

So what do you think? All things considered, there is even a lion sculpted on the shoulder! Perfect.

Certainly seems as though the Lion/Winged motif on the Pauldrons would be appropriate for a DA character.

It certainly would. If it had two claws, the only real change I might make would be the head for a Belial.

It seems they are putting this out in line with their new Imperial Armor. Shame they never put out a Seige of Vraks Dark Angel model. Belial was not present, but Interrogator-Chaplain Belphegor would have made a nice start.

I also wonder what made them clad him in TDA, as his Chaosy future self had always been in power armor. It is of course an outstanding model, no doubt about that, and obviously the chapter master can wear whatever armor suits him.

The more I look at that model the more I'm falling in love with it. Yes the left claw could be a problem - or one could just use it as it is as a 'counts as' for friendly games I guess.

Seems a shame to cut him up.... as the pose is perfect for a shooty weapon in the left hand.

@ GM I like your thinking. I have 5 combi-flamer termy sarges left over from previous edition. Can't wait to ignite those again :P.

Yeah and his shoulder pads with the lion head on it is sweet.

I've been contamplating making a biggerized Lion El Johnson model using those shoulder pads.

I pre-ordered the model the minute I saw it, and am now just waiting for the thing to get here, I'll post pics when he finally gets here.

I'd been thinking along a couple of lines.

1- get amitious and try sculpting a matching claw myself. I quickly decided that won't work, so posible try sculpting two using this one as reference. It'll look cruddy but symetrical!

2- swap out the left forearm and give him a nice meaty sword. It would do for a primarch (in an Emperor pose kind of way) or be a nice counts-as for twin claws if using the Belial rules.

I would have to swap the head out though. As awesomly detailed as this one is it seems to primal for my marines.

Symmetry aside, perhaps a regular terminator power claw could work (maybe dress it up with some bling)? Easily explained by saying that the right claw is an ancient artifact whose twin was lost ages ago.

I think there are a few things that you should think about when trying this as a Belial model.

1. You should at least take the time to read the rules that they gave Lufgt Huron and see how they translate to Belial. I've heard of enough people using Logan Grimnar and spacewolves to create their Deathwing army (and even one chaos player's army using DW rules). Perhaps Lugft Huron's rules will allow you to paint him as is as a DA DW and say that this your army's version of Belial.

2. If you look at the right hand, it in itself looks like two sets of claws anyway. in that sense, I would saw that you could try to convince an opponent that this artifact should count as twin lightning claws (two sets of claws are present on the model).
