Dreads and Ravens all over your face?

Ok so I have an idea for a list floating around my head (amongst many others), but without having played with anything that behaves quite like this I'd be very curious to see other peoples take on it, and how it should be best used.

The list is as follows:

Sgt. Hammer & Hand flamer +2xMeltagun

#250

#225

+Drop pod

+Locator beacon

#45

Furioso Dreadnaught (Elites)

Frag cannon & Melta gun

#125

+Drop pod

+Locator beacon

#45

Drop pod (attached to assault squad, runs empty)

+Locator beacon

#10

Storm Raven (Heavy Support)

TL Multi Melta + TL Assault cannon

#200

+Reclusiarch

#130

+Death Company x10 (Troops)

+Death Company Dreadnaught (Troops)

Blood Talons + Melta gun & Heavy Flamer

#135

The theory is/was that while a fully loaded raven is quite simply asking to have its face blown off, if one could dump off the squad and or dread in the enemys face on turn 1 along with the raven one could hopefully split enemy fire priority to the point where you could expect atleast 1 or 2 dreads or ravens to be intact by turn 2. Where you procede to open up with whatever whoopass you still have left.

So assuming you get turn 1, two pods drop down with locator beacons. One will almost certainly be the frag dread, the other would be situational i.e. the empty pod if you need/want to be completeley in the enemys face, tacticals if you want to sit on an objective/choice piece of terrain you can very quickly re-enforce. (mainly going to be down to how agressive or not you expect the enemy to be). The ravens sit on the deployment line and move flatout to whichever of the 2 drop pods makes most sense (sometime you want to split, others you might want both ravens & contents in roughly the same spot). Then you either dump the dreads or the squad or both within locator beacon range using skies of blood. Most of the time I anticipate dropping in the dreads to spoil fire prioirty so i can keep the troops in the ravens for a turn 2 assault ramp charge, but sometimes if melta is in serious abundance but anti infantry isent so much then it may be better to reverse the order. The idea is that with a 4+ coversafe from flat out and the ceramite plating the Ravens wont be a complete pushover to anti armour weapons etc. and with the potential of both the dreads and the units on the ravens on a charge hopefully it'll make a nice big mess if nothing else. (theres no reason the dreads cant pop smoke turn 1 for a little melta insurance right?)

Assuming you get to go 2nd instead the army goes semi-defensive. Drop the tac squad somewhere safeish but usefull & either re-enforce with the frag dread, or drop the empty pod somewhere annoying and reserve the ravens which can react accordingly to the enemy when they arrive turn 2 or 3ish.

Clearly this list is weaker when it dosent get the 1st turn, so I'm primarily looking for ways to improve this, or suggestions about how to best deploy under these circumstances. However please suggest anything you might find relevant, I'd love to see any ideas you have to achieveing the same basic effect better with different loadouts and or units.

Three things:

There's a separate forum for BA army lists.

IIRC, we try to keep specific points values out of lists for forum-rules reasons.

I like the twin Stormravens idea.

1. Fair enough, I intended this to be more of a tactics question but it ended up becomming a bit of a "rate my armylist" thread by the time I'd finished. So many appologies on that front.

2. I was under the understanding that unit pts costs were fine. its specifics like wargear etc. that are taboo. (i.e. I can tell you how much a tac squad cost in config x, just not why) If I am mistaken I appologise again and will bear this in mind in future (certainly every armylist thread ive come across on here has listed unit total costs).

3. Thanks I'm still very much looking for the best way to be able get my use out of them

Edit: I have reposted on the army list forum as this seemed best. Mods please do with this thread as you see fit.
