terminatorAM
my first game with the new BA several weeks ago was Annihilation and i got stomped. I play a mostly-mech list and have 5 ICs in the list between priests, a chaplain and 2 HQs. So my opponent (Eldar) picked off the transports then worked over the units with ICs and scored way more victory points than i was able to against him. So my question: is there a way to deny an opponent these easy kills or is it something BA will just have to deal with as a disadvantage? Hiro_Protagonist
The more squads you field, the more kill points your opponent has access to. Small squads = easy kill points usually. I think you're stuck unless you take less...and bigger squads. Or just table your opponent, that takes care of everything! Leonaides
all depends on your list. Do you need 2 sp's? Can you make one of your hq's a reclus and not take the elite version. Tho that game sounds like the eldar player stuck to the victory conditions and punished you for not taking more preventative measures... SamaNagol
Always play the mission, not the opponent. It's chess, with random variables. Sacrifice your pieces in a calculating manner Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212430-playing-annihilation/#findComment-2526973 Share on other sites
bulley
Sounds like alot of IC's, what points limit was it? Balancing your list also includes balancing for certain missions. The list may look very strong on paper, but in a ahnilation mission it will suffer if its stacking high KP's - especially 5 "easy" ones. For example, at 1500 I run 2 IC's - a libby and corbs (or 3, with 2 SP's). Do you need a chaplin? If your 2 HQ's are Libbys- why not run with one with unleash rage - which essentially converts him into a mini chaplin anyway. Etc... I suffer from high KP army due to 5 man squad/razors. So what I am doing is creating the aternative where I can run 10 man squads with rhino's (or just run as a plain space marine army). You need to be aware of where weakness's are in your army, and if its something you can cut .. go for it.
