snakelane
Hi all Ok i wanted to be different and make my own chapter ,with so many SM players out there i wanted to be different . I also like fluff so want to give them a Back story So far i have had them being closley linked to the Black templars (but using the Codex Space marine rules )and originating from the Imperial fist . Colour scheme is Dark angle green, silver helmets and silver pads (Sergeants have 1 gold pad), Terminators have a gold helm and captains have gold helm and pads . and i use the Black templars cross as there badge This also gives me the oppertunity should i wish to use other SM codex rules such as BA and BT if i choose But back to the point i want them to have a good fluff -back story but still be individual , I went for The imperial Fist as the chapter there Gene seed came from ,since i like their stubborn attitude and Black templars because my friend plays them and we plan on doing 2v2 games using the fluff as a back drop. The Main enemy they will face is Eldar and Tyranids so guys how did you come up with a back story for your chapters if ofcourse you did  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212451-dark-justicars/ Share on other sites
Cpt_Reaper
The way I came up with my Chapters' fluff was to basically copy the Dark Angels' story then give it my own twist. This not only provided for my Chapter, but also for my Chaos Warband. A good starter is to find a story you like, then re-write it in your own way to suit your chosen theme. You want a templar like chapter but using the regular codex? Then use lots of Vanguard Vets and use sword brethren models. Little things like that can add a whole lot of character to your Chapter. snakelane
Thanks for the input I was thinking along the lines of using chaplins as the main HQ choice for the chapter Eample " The Dark Justicars forgo the normal doctirne of captians to lead there companies and use Chaplins to forfill this role , each Marine from there first days as scouts, to there last living breath aspires to reach the office of chaplin . To the Dark Justicars the Chaplin epitimises the absoulte best a SM can be ,fearless, stuborn, righteous and devout Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212451-dark-justicars/#findComment-2527216 Share on other sites
Cpt_Reaper
Interesting idea. May I suggest you use the Dark Angels codex then? Their interrogator-chaplains could represent your Chaplain-Commanders quite well, and they still have regular chaplains to distinguish between the two? soddinnutter
Would they have close ties with the Ecclesiarchy for their devotion or will they keep their distance because, although fanatical, believe different? Will they be shooty or choppy or a good all around stompy? Do they use induct psykers (most chapters), do they employ them but refuse to recruit them because of the potential danger (Black Tempelars) do they make excessive use of them (Blood Ravens). Do they hold a special rank, Confessor to whom all sin and guilt in the minds of mortals is evident? Do they tend the Library or is that the job of the Archivists and Remembrancers? What are Scouts? Are they the veterans who have learned to be sneaky and cunning? Are they the Newbies still without their armour training? Why do they so hate the Eldar and the 'Nid? Did one take their people for slaves and play things and the other as a Happy Meal? Do they sail the seas of night as a fleet based chapter on a permanent crusade so like the Tempelars or have they settled down with a planet to call their own? From the name it would suggest that they bring the Emperors Law unto the dark places of the Galaxy. Do they get along with the Adeptus Arbiters? Or do the Arbites feel that your chapter is a loose cannon that causes as much of a problem as it solves? Does the Adepta Sororitas regard them as heretic or angelic? have they fought shoulder to shoulder or have they never met the Chamber Militant? Do the =I= like them or do they keep bloody hand at arms length? How do they feel about being posted to the Death Watch? How do the =I= feel about posting them to the Death Watch? Any mutations, regenerations or deviance at the genetic level? If so what is the variation? any semi-successful attempts to get the Betchers Glands and Sus-an Membrane working? How do they recruit? Is it harsh or is it Murderous? are they volunteers, lost boys, war orphans or abducted children? After separating the wheat from the chaff what happens to the chaff? Is it burnt? Servitorised? Used as servants, thralls, serfs, drones, slaves or free/volunteer workers? Do the failures get to join the Guard/PDF as second place? do they stay at home and guard the Fort/Deter Boarding Actions? Do they look down on the human herd both psychologically as well as physically (Marines Malevolent)? Do they Get along with and remember they to were once human (Salamanders / Space Wolves)? Do they, being so fanatical, revere the Machine God? Do they get along with His servants? Do they have any shiny toys, Plasma weapons, Dreadnaughts and Terminator Armour? Leonaides
Eample " The Dark Justicars forgo the normal doctirne of captians to lead there companies and use Chaplins to forfill this role , each Marine from there first days as scouts, to there last living breath aspires to reach the office of chaplin . Though its one of my little pet peeves, I hope I can phrase this so you understand what I mean. Your marines will still need some sort of captains. If a marine spends 8 hrs a day in combat training, and 5 hours a day strianing for his specialism, a guy who's specialism is being a chaplain (so spending those 5 hrs learning the chapter cult, councelling any marines who need it, time in prayer, etc) is going to be an inferior tactician to someone who's spent 8 hours in comabt training and 5 hours in tactical theory, researching old battles, learing about enemies prefered tactics, etc... So, a Chaplain will not be as good a commander as a Captian, simply because he wont have spent as much time learning how to do it. Why does each marine want to be the guy who has ultimate say over other marines being executed for heresy, or saying "Brother Bob has been too damaged by spending 5 years fighting the Chaos hordes of Ted, he must be locked away till he can regain his mind and we can trust him again." Chaplains are the spiritual and psychological guardians of their brothers. They are there to prevent other marines from falling into heresy or turingin traitor, or executing those who do fall. Its a powerful job, and gains respect, but it is also a terrible role - knowing that you might have to kill any one of your brothers, and them always knowing that you might come for them. It might be better to say that "The Chapter reclusiam (the chaplains) are unusually involved in the command structure of the chapter, and have been known to petition the Chapter Master to declare campaigns against foes who might have been ordinarily beneath the notice of the mighty Adeptus Astartes. In this, they frequently encounter the forces of the Ecclesiarchy and the Inquisition Ordos Hereticus. What those institutions think of the Astartes interference is unknown. Recently they have been active against numerous genestealer cults and have been tracing Xenos taints in teh ruling classes of some of the worlds under their protection." Gives your chaplains more influence, and implied respect, than normal chapters, but not to the point that you have to justify havign a completely different command structure to a normal chapter. Gives you plot hooks for battles against Tyranids (genestealer cults) and Eldar (Xenos trading with Planetary upper classes - a heresy) and gives you a bare bones relationship with some other Imerial insitutions (the Inquisition and the Imperial Church who would be the most likely ones you'd encoutner where heretic cults are involved) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212451-dark-justicars/#findComment-2527602 Share on other sites
