LPetersson
So I was thinking about how best to make an army where the theme is 'Need for speed' and basically my goal was to come up with something that can really stay mobile and yet bring the pain. As much as the idea of wolves riding wolves make my cry a little inside, I came up with this list: Canis Wolfborn + 2 Fenrisian wolves WGBL - TWM - Thunder Hammer WGBL - TWM - Thunder Hammer 5 GH - Melta Gun - Razor Back 6 GH - Melta Gun - Razor Back 6 GH - Melta Gun - Razor Back 3 TWM - MoTW - Thunderhammer 3 TWM - MoTW - 1xBolt Gun 3 TWM - MoTW - 1xBolt Gun 15x Fenrisian Wolves (Counts as troops in an army with Canis) Exactly 1500 points Instead: Canis Wolfborn + 2 Fenrisian wolves Wolf Lord - TWM - Frost Axe 3xWGPL - Combi-Melta 5 GH - Melta Gun - Razor Back 5 GH - Melta Gun - Razor Back 5 GH - Melta Gun - Razor Back 3 TWM - Thunderhammer/Storm Shield 3 TWM - Thunderhammer/Storm Shield 3 TWM - Thunderhammer/Storm Shield This can all move damn quickly and at 1500 points there are enough units that the enemy will either spread out their firepower and make small dents or concentrate one one squad which may die but in the second turn I should be in CC... The Grey Hunters are naturally for objectives based missions althought they will also be used for taking out armour. I am tempted to drop a squad of TWM and replace them with either WG bikers (I love bikes) or a squad of MM Land Speeders for taking out armour very quickly. Any thoughts/comments? I have one of the rather nice TWM fromMythicast and I really like it. I also got 4 Fenrisian cyber wolves from them and they really look nice. That's reason enough for me to want to do this army... Macharim
MoTW on TWC is not so good since you only gain 0.5 A on average and risk losing attacks and already have Rending. Also you right now have 4 FA choices. I'd say drop MoTW and the Fenrisian wolves and buy some LF or a Vindicator for the points you save. Fred Johnson the 3rd jr
WGBL with a thunderhammer is IMHO pointless. Loses his Initiative 5 attack. And you can just as easily give a TWC a thunderhammer instead. I don't normally use it and for some unfathomable reason thought it gave 1D6 attacks extra instead of the +1 for charging, ooopsie. Fenrisian Wolves count as troops with Canis Wolfborn. They're also a fluffy choice which counts for alot in my lists. the theme here is speed and mobility, neither of which the LF or Vindicator has, hence why I haven't taken any heavy support choices. WGBL with a thunderhammer is IMHO pointless. Loses his Initiative 5 attack. And you can just as easily give a TWC a thunderhammer instead. That is a very good point. I gave them the THs for the extra attack over normal TWC, but since I'd be removing the MotW from them, it would make sense to add the TH to the TWC for wound allocation purposes... Wysten
You can tool your thunder wolf up better for the price you pay for one of those wolf battle brothers. You already have one really cost effient wolf lord, you don't need 3. As said, a thunder wolf with hammer and another thunder wolf costs much less, for the same amount of wounds. You are really paying for the Inti 5. Get some storm sheilds on those thunder wolf, or buy another 2 man pack, then probably get rid of the other one or upgrade him to wolf lord and give him the real terror weapon frost blade Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212492-fast-attack-army/#findComment-2527759 Share on other sites

Hmmm, ok, so I think I'll go for this instead: Canis Wolfborn + 2 Fenrisian wolves Wolf Lord - TWM - Frost Axe 3xWGPL - Combi-Melta 5 GH - Melta Gun - Razor Back 5 GH - Melta Gun - Razor Back 5 GH - Melta Gun - Razor Back 3 TWM - Thunderhammer/Storm Shield 3 TWM - Thunderhammer/Storm Shield 3 TWM - Thunderhammer/Storm Shield 1454 points, so I can pimp it out with some sagas/gear... Has anyone else tried to make a fast attack army that would make the White Scars cry with envy? marine77
Personally, I would drop Canis and get a tooled TWolf Lord. In my opinion, a real tank will include a storm shield, runic armor, and some sort of power weapon. I run mine with a wolf claw. This makes him a nasty character who is nigh impossible to get rid of. If you want him to shred infantry, give him saga of the warrior born.
