Had a lovely surprise for my birthday. I was luckly enough to be brought a titan at Gamesday, was concerned that my wife went awol for a couple of hours with girlie things ;) .

Started building on Friday starting with the legs but it wasn't long before the crew/cockpit area got the better of me so out came the primer and paint.

Couple of bits to finish off but it made a change from measuring and cutting all the pistons on the ankles and knee joints.

Thanks for looking will update with more progress at a later stage

nice job so far. I really like the detail shots you've posted. I've never gotten a chance to really look at a Warhound titan before. I've seen them several times, but they were typically in display cases or on the far side of the board from me.

Your wife bought you a titan... mine bought me a coffee... *sob*

:D That made me, and the wife, smile. Thanks to all for the comments. Am now all assembled and primed and have started to think colour schemes, my personal take on marines is brighter is better hence my imperial fists squads, and the Morning Stars scheme I think looks good.

Painting up the shin guard at the moment and can't decide on the trim colour.

Shining gold, Burnished gold or Iyanden Darksun are my thoughts and wonder what peoples opinion's are?

Anyway here is a shot of said guard, with test trims

Left Burnished gold Right Shining Gold (no Iyanden Darksun bits though)

I just could never wrap my brain around the concept of a "Scout" titan. I mean how the heck is a titan supposed to scout anything? It's fraggin' huge! so with that thought down, Titan are one thing I can understand being bright and easy to see. I mean think about it:

Cultist skims out over the horrizon and see a brightly colored object moving.

Cultist: My lord, the marines are coming. There appears to be a dreadnought just crossing the horizon line. That puts them about 6 hours away.

Leader looks out. Range meter reads 25 kilometers. The leader does some mental calculations.

Leader: THAT'S NOT A DREADNOUGHT!!!! They're Almost here!!!!

now with that out of my system, I like the paint scheme on the leg. Is the rest of the Titan going to be similarly done?

Guess you never played the epic games (on a large scale)... Scout titans are more manoueverable, faster and smaller than the battle titans - this used to be represented by the number of 45 degree turns it could make in a turn. You could flank with a couple of warhounds from behind buildings while providing a slower, more threatening target, like a Death Bringer variant Warlord at the front... Their purpose is pretty much to explore terrain on the behalf of a superheavy detachment and to fulfil picket and harassment duties - warhounds could really hurt armoured columns (if your opponent was dumb enough to leave them without some sort of anti-titan defence)...

I have no doubt that a Warhound is faster and more maneuverable then larger titans. But a titan, scouting? IE: Attempting to conduct covert operations to disrupt enemy operations while remaining hidden? yeah... not seeing that happen. Now in terms of being able to out pace an armored column, harrang enemy flanks and provide cover to larger less mobile titans, sure War Hounds would be perfect for that. And I've played enough Mech Warrior to understand the ability of smaller mechs to 'hide' behind buildings and the like during combat. I question none of those points. I simply don't fathom a titan, of any class, being a suitable 'scout' as the term is traditionally utilized. Take a unit of 100 bike scouts to scout out the enemy. Have the Warhounds harass the armored division to delay it's approach and form a siege point with the Warlords to smash said armored division between the heavier hitting Warlords and the faster War Hounds.

Scouting as in Armoured recon rather than scouting as in stealthy sneaking around. They are fast enough to probe enemy defences and escape anything they cannot outfight, and outfight (generally) anything they cannot escape...

Looking forward to seeing how this project turns out.

Cheers for the feedback and thanks to all that have looked/commented. Haven't progressed from my last updates and am still pondering the trim colours but I have decide on the main body colour so I have started a test piece.

Very sick! I'm intrested to see how this comes out. My only concern is the brightness of the green and then having the blue and white stripes. In my opinion I find those colors a little off... but then again I've never physically seen a titan before (just pics) and It might just work out after all.

looks good, :HQ:

I like the look of that winged figure in the background to what is it ??

Looks like some sort of chaplain (notice the Crozius Arcanum)

Maybe dans a traitor to the Emperor and spawned a Chaos Chaplain xD

Almost 3 months since the last update but now into a new year and, hopefully, back to normality.

It is indeed a Chaplain just think he suits wings better than his jump pack. Don't panic majorpayne haven't been tainted by the warp, even if I do have a demon prince in the to do list.

Progress has been slow on the titan but I was brought a new compressor for christmas so have been able to get a base coat on.

Am quite happy with the overall green I think it will make it stand out more on the gaming table.

(the shin pads are just laying against the legs)

Also received another bit from forgeworld which has just been given is base coat :P

I am SO jealous of you lol! But seriously that Titan is looking quite handsome, the solid colors really add to it! The right leg detail is great! If I had a wife (I'm 17... too early) I hope I would be lucky enough to get a titan from her of course I would probably buy her something nice too ;P )
