plaguereaper
Awhile ago I was getting list advice from this forum and someone asked me to post some pics (particularly of my converted Abbadon) so here we go. The army isn't complete, I need some rhinos, and to finish my Bezerker squad (see my other post of my converted Bezerkers) Abbadon http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6064.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6065.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6066.jpg Heres his terminator BFFs http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6067.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6068.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6069.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6070.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6072.jpg This squad is pretty lighting claw heavy, with some other weapons to mix it up. And I tried to make the squad have multiple gods represented. This is my chosen squad, which is a hammer/suicide squad. (I actually have 2 of these, one with all flamers and one with meltas, although the melta squad is pretty plain, so I didnt take any pics) http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6073.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6074.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6075.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6076.jpg My FW dreadnought, I love this guy, Mr. Choppy. http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6063.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6062.jpg Last but not least, the sorcerer. I really like this conversion. http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6059.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6060.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n457/chickenbgood/DSCF6061.jpg I know theres alot I could do in painting, but I like this army because it is easy and fast to paint, I do a black spraypaint basecoat, drybrush of codex grey, they a badab black wash. (I also have a csm squad, but its nothing special and I figured I have enough pictures) Watcha think? blooddragon
I would recommend a slightly more pronounced highlight IMHO but aside from that very nice mini's. Captain Mick
Nice mini`s, ok painted but i think u missed way to much more details. Seems like a very speedy job but thats personal. Some examples - Sword Handle from Abbadon. - No eye`s painted at Terminator helm - Black tusks/black armor - Spike`s Terminators. - Gun/cables 2nd Terminator not painted and so on. Dragonkin Arenis
No peanuts? You led me on! ;) They're really nice conversions, however I don't dig the 'grey mist' on the model. It doesn't make the colours stand out, if you know what I mean. It's a unique style, mind you. Brother_Fatiswon
love the ashy dark soot marines of death look, of course most are going to say, you need to do this, and do that, but i think the one think you could do, is dry brush, or wash your bases, with a much lighter color. i would almost say that like a snowy base or maybe a lave red orange would be GRAND in bring life to your models. Great job all around!! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212591-black-legion/#findComment-2529152 Share on other sites
Muller
They look.......dusty, and there's tons of details missing. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212591-black-legion/#findComment-2529391 Share on other sites
plaguereaper
Thanks for comments, as for some of the small details, I spent a couple hours yesterday after class and did the eyes, horns, bones, and added some red here and there. I'm gonna also paint the terminator with the sorcerer head with some blue panels, once I get some blue paint. Also, I love the "grey mist" I did that trying for a stone/ charcoal look. Scathainn
Also, a wash of Badab Black over the whole mini will do wonders for quality. Looks good so far, though. I like your Abbadon; it's much more humble than the regular one. Muller
I still feel that the models completely lack shading as well as highlighting, and while the look you might be going for calls for this they do look like half-painted models that have been sitting on a cabinet for 8 months collecting dust. (Now that we've established that this really is a WIP thread I thought more input could be helpful). Isiah
I quite like that dusty look actually - the greyness of the black is quite refreshing - they kinda look like they sprang out of the ground. If that's the effect you were after then you've succeeded :). They're very characterful and the metallic treatment works very well.
