Marshal Wilhelm
Q. Does a Thunderwolf Cavalry model with a special close combat weapon (eg a thunder hammer) still have rending attacks? A. No. The description of the Thunderwolf mount on page 62 says that it ‘… has the Rending special rule in close combat with any attack that does not use a special close combat weapon’. This applies to Thunderwolf Cavalry as well (and Canis Wolfborn, for that matter). The only way the could stack is if Rending was from the profile. If it is from the weapon [which one?] and a SCCW at that, then it is quite clear that it would never stack. People ask the question because it is the model, not a weapon, doing the Rending. If what you're saying is true, Ramses, why would the FAQ ask "does the TWC with a SCCW still have rending attacks?" Surely they would be asking "does the TWC with an additional SCCW ...." and in that case they wouldn't need to ask, because we all know what Two different special weapons says.... Grey Mage
Interesting point Wildfire. I will ask the same thing the last 100 times that point was brought up, where is the Rending rule you are claiming they have located in the BRB? Hidden in the shooting section, page 31. Easily found using the index. Now I ask you- show me a single model that is equipped with a 'rending weapons' in its unit entry. Next time you are shooting with close combat attacks, your golden. Ask far as your question, you are told the close combat attacks are rending. Per the BRB, the only time you can ever have your close combat attacks be rending is if you have rending close combat weapons. No exception is given for any close combat attack to be rending unless it is done with a rending close combat weapon. It doesnt say its a shooting special rule, simply that there is a rule called 'rending' and that is what it does. Nothing in the rules description requires it to be during shooting either- its simply a special rule that is seen primarily in weapon profiles. The example given is a shooting weapon, but it works in CC too. Since you want to be such an extremist about RAW. Because theres RAW, and then theres literalism. Dont confuse the two. Max_Dammit
Come on, people already shout CHEESE when they fight thunder wolves, I see no reason to ad the rending to the mix and go all the way to Limburger  They dont need it on top of there awesomeness And canis rides a squirrel so i dont care what rules he uses, ill never field him :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212630-twc-special-weapons/page/3/#findComment-2539230 Share on other sites
