Ad Mech+Xenos Tech=Love?

Something doesn't add up quite right for me. I understand that the Adeptus Mechanicum strive to attain all human knowledge which manifests itself in the the form of STCs...and makes sure that it achieves a monopoly as it does so. But what clicked with me today was how they act almost in the same crack addict attitude when they come across xenos tech. What's the point? Don't they preach that only the works of humanity are pure, that their technology is the pinnacle of all knowledge and power? Sure, we know that this is not quite the truth as insert tau or even the origins of the technology (insert Mechanicum). But what exactly do they hope to learn from xenos and is there a desire to apply it? And what form? The machination or the working behind it? Any ideas from the Priests here (I normally lurk the =I= forum)?

There is a distinctive difference between xenos and xeno technology, the mechanicum believes that all knowledge are pure, and technology is this knowledge materialised which in terms means that so are xeno technology, but as xenos are impure their use of the knowledge is distorted and so are their technology (not the jnowledge that can be gained from it) and must be obtained and converted to the true way of the Omnissiah. Also the mechanicum isn't that big fans of the human race, even though they're a part of it they strive to reach ever higher levels of the Omnissiah's blessings (bionic upgrades) and some of the highest ranking members of the adeptus mechanicus are more machines with human parts than the other way around.

I think one of the best ways to think of it is like geeks and pretty computers, especially high spec ones. It doesn't matter who made it when its pretty and does cool things :)

The mechanicum seeks ultimate truth from ultimate knowledge. The origin of the knowledge is irrelevant providing that it maintains and furthers the unitary goal. Human technology apparently takes precedence only because it serves to maintain the identity of the endangered imperium and to sustain the xenophobic fervour necessary to ensure its survival.

It is most diplomatic to postulate that only the works of humanity are pure, - to those masses whose deviation and uninsightful intentions might otherwise destroy, in malice or ignorance, both themselves and that which mankind has built.

 

Any enlightened Magos may assist, but does not yield to the imperium of man.
