Drachnon
I usually don't give a power weapon because I have a personal guide line of equipping characters, never more then 50% of their starting cost. Since I run my priest with a jump pack it's already at it's max. 90 points for a 1 wound model with a 3+ save that can be picked out in CC is too good of an oppertunity for the opponent to pass up. GlauG
90 points for a 1 wound model with a 3+ save that can be picked out in CC is too good of an oppertunity for the opponent to pass up. Since things are done on Kill Points these days, surely his exact cost matters less? He dies as easily with or without the Power Weapon, so surely it's worth making sure he does the extra damage, especially against things with a decent armour save? I appreciate that you might find somewhere else to stick 15pts worth of wargear, but I rarely have anywhere else that I would. igotsmeakabob!!
You only have a 1/3 chance of getting kill points. His cost matters because it's being taken out of the rest of your force.. those points could go somewhere else. I don't like investing too many points into my priests either... I keep the 50% of starting cost guideline as well. That does mean that my foot priests... well, never mind. My on-foot priests are always either Honour Guard or Corbulo! Wildfire
I think it really depends on how you equip the rest of your llist. A SP with a JP is going to have a much harder time hanging back and not getting shot. One on foot is going to be able to hide in a transport much easier. So all JP armies are going to need more power weapons, and mech armies can go naked easier. That being said, my thought process (taken with a grain of salt, since I haven't actually played a game with the new 'dex yet) is to keep them safe. If I ever end up playing a BA list, I plan on putting a priest on a bike and sticking him in a squadron of attack bikes. Capt. Kenaz
Okay, so after allll the advice; which I truly appreciate, is to, Sang. Priest Santora thumbed the activation rune on his ancient sword, and it cackled to life with blue flames of eldritch power, is going to be power swords or axes for my priests. two of them are going to be joined to an assualt squad with jumppacks, and one of them is going to assigned to either a tac squad or an assualty 10 man squad....crazy I know! ;) Thanks for all of the support and brain-storming!!!!!
