Space wolf apocalypse articles

since the space wolves do do their own thing, and we have an ancient fortress, what sort of special war machines, or formations might we have? I am branching out into working on some home grown apocalypse articles, for fun and keeping my brain active. so asking the long fangs, and grey hunters here, as i am but a blood claw in the ways of Russ.

I've already made a hell wolf fighter, that's a modified thunderbolt. it's got some fluff. but i'm not sure if that fits. it was commandeered by skyclaws, before any wolf lord objects. and let's say lukas was involved.

anyway, what sort of hidden war machine might we wolves have hidden in the fang.

The following image isnt mine, but one i keep in my 'inspiration folder'.

There was an apoc formation in a White Dwarf that had (from memory :)) a bane blade, up to 6 Leman Russ's, and up to 12 Sentinals. I plan on eventually doing that, with 6 Eterminaters, and the Sentials modeled up like Iron Priests in a work frame/walker.

Not sure about the BC being given flyers. Omnibus has reference to pilots being at least of Grey Hunter rank. One thing to give a BC a pack or bike to scream off with at crazy speeds, but mech on the level of a flyer? No way!

For inspiration for a Loganwing, look to the Deathwing formation with rules unique to SW.

Take some of our history which has been done to a point with the 13th Co formation and go wiih a Bjorn defense Apoc force reminiscent of him leading the defense of the Fang.

We don't really have our own formations, other than the 30k one from the BoLS Heresy campaign http://bit.ly/8XcrSR, but it is very easy to just customise the ones currently available for other chapters or SM in general.

For the ones that require deep-striking terminators, just have them use drop pods, and where you need captain, just use Wolf Guard Battle Leaders or other HQ choices and so on...

It's doable, as long as you tall your opponents what you'll be doing...

oh okay. i meant the data sheets here, in the data fax section. i'm sure we wolves have rare and hidden war machines that we hide from offical records. we are a first founding chapter. and we do have a vast fortress. things are sure to be hidden in it.

My brains still alittle fried from lack of sleep (bloody stupid grand prix) but anyway I cant remember which book it was in but didnt the wolves rescue some sort of earthshaker baneblade in one of the stories.

If I remember right, they had to plug a dready into it to drive it?

I know its a mission if you were to make it and have to come up with rules but if its apoc? Maybe anyway.

Actually, that was Fallen Angels :P

The wolf inside me is dying that you would dare get us confused with those dirty robe wearing traitors ;)

Yeah one of my favourites from WD 352, its actually the Shadowsword domination force:

1 Shadowsword

3 - 6 Leman Russ Battle Tanks

0 - 2 Hydra Flak Tanks

0 - 3 Sentinel Squadrons

0 - 4 Infantry squads in Chimeras

Fluff says it mimics a naval formation and is setup to protect the Shadowsword. Structural damage result on the Shadowsword can be allocated to a Leman Russ while a vehicle destroyed result on a Leman Russ or Hydra can be allocated to a Sentinel. Thinking of filling in Space Wolf equivalents for the IG stuff (perhaps Landspeeders for Sentinels?), but still using the core idea and points cost of the original data sheet
