Blood Angels Vanguard Squad

I am a painfully slow painter. I can't explain it, but I always seem to paint slower than most, even when I'm not procrastinating, lol. I guess it just takes me a while to be happy with a project, so when I finally was happy with these I asked my buddy to come over with his digital camera since I'm too poor to afford my own. I wanted these to really stand out from the tabletop-standard that most of my troops are going to be... when I finish them.. Anyway, lemme know what you think.

I used blue for the purity seals instead of green. I didn't particularly like the green seals so I wanted to try other options.

I particularly like how the gem on this one's forehead turned out, actually, the squad as a whole is some of my best work with gems.

I wanted to have one of the weapons with the checkermarks reminiscent of some of the older BA artwork

I really like the glowing eyes and plasma. Small critism i would add some green flock or something to the base it just appears abit plain. But other wise a nice job.

I thought the slate would match the rubble that was already a part of the models' bases.

I love these models and you have really done them justice, i agree with the above poster though, round the edges of the sculpted bases theres just random black base showing, you should cover that up, maybe glue sand onto it and paint it up to be fine rubble? I think your idea of the runed power swords is really interesting as well, you have really made them pop. Just noticed the blue purity seals as well, rarely see blue, really looks good.

I love these Vanguard. Lots and lots of highly detailed work. Very classic looking and nice work with the power weapons!

Thanks for the praise. :thanks: The power weapons aren't anything as Wolfy as runes. It's just my attempt at lightning arcs that I haven't quite gotten the knack of yet. Still, I'm glad it turned out well enough to still look good. ;)
