Deathwing Dreadnought

Recommended Posts

I have been commissioned to paint a tabletop quality Deathwing Dreadnought. It's one of the old metal models. When I received it, it was already assembled, primed, and had some paint on it. The glue holding it together was old and brittle. I broke it down and have re-built it with slightly posed legs, proper pinning, and added Dark Angel plastic accessories. I scraped a lot of the old, damaged and flaking paint off and shaved the mold lines. Not all of the paint could be removed, but enough could. It won't be perfectly smooth, but that's how it goes when you have to work with a used model. I will be doing enough battle damage that it shouldn't matter. I also made a rubble base and a greenstuff banner, and added a greenstuff riser at the waist to give it a bit more height.

Here's the first few pictures of it, taken right before I primed it. More to come as I progress.

Can anyone make out what's carved into the base?

To bad you put Plastic part on it.

I would have suggest you the use of Paint Remover (not thiner but Remover) with an old Thoot brush it make miracle (it actualy scraps all the paint leaving only shining metalic partsl)

it melt the glue down to.

Def. an aquilla

Yep. It's a bit fuzzy because it's just scratched into the base with the point of my knife. I wanted to make sure it was recognizable.

It's worked out alright. The primer went on smooth and clean despite slight roughness underneath.

EDIT: Well, it's finished. But my friends took the camera off camping with them for the weekend, so no pics for awhile.
