Sagas

S. Bloodhowl

Recommended Posts

So as some will know I am doing Sven Bloodhowls Great Company, and as more should know he has his saga tattooed upon him and the flayed skin of his enemies. But I'm a bit confused, are Sagas shown by pictures showing scenes of the saga, or are they written like that bit on page 5 of the Codex (The Sky Warriors bit)???

Thanks in advance

I think you can do whatever feels best, but if we look upon the runestones we have here in Sweden, the saga is in runic form with the words of the tale coiling about the stone like a serpent, seemingly almost like something you would see in a tattoo. Then it recites that "Blah blah, son of blah blah and slayer of blah blah did blah blah to honor his blah blah."

My take on it is similar in nature to what Ragnar did from time to time while I read the Ragnar Saga. He would recite "prayers" and such to steel his nerves and whatnot. I imagine that characters that have the empowerment of a Saga would recite or chant them, either by memory or while reading them on whatever they are written on. Say for instance it was memorized (like a spell in D&D or other roleplaying game). While in his drop pod or whatever being deployed to the battle area he would recite/chant it to activate it. Just how I reconciled Sagas from the Codex to Fantasy Realization imagery.
