Pig Of Sparta
This project was an exercise in sculpting and an experiment in painting. I'm pretty happy with how both aspects turned out. When the Daemon Prince kit was released I really wanted one but I was broke, so after a conversation with my brother, he very kindly gave me some of the parts he hadn't used when he built his. The photos below show what I did with them: http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF9091-1.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF9089-1.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF9090-1.jpg any comments or criticism welcome thanks James
Durgey
what, did you sculpt it and paint ti from scratch?
Pig Of Sparta
I'm not quite sure how to take that comment Durgey. Sadly, I didn't sculpt him completely from scratch. I used the head, torso and loincloth from the Daemon Prince kit and sculpted on the shoulders, obliques and lengthened the waist a little so as to cover the 'gaps' in the plastic components where other bits were supposed to join on. The painting however was done from scratch :P. It was an experiment to see how white flesh would look/work on a mini. cheers James

chaplainmikey
Nice idea for spare parts and i think it looks great. Good job on the white skin the face in particular looks very nasty. Hope you get hold of a full Daemon prince kit soon, would love to see you paint the full kit. Cheers, Mike.
Durgey
Well I do like the precision at which you've painted it and the fine detail to which you have darwn attention to. Question is; what'll you do next?
Pig Of Sparta
Thanks for all the comments guys. It was quite fun to sculpt and paint this 'mini' to bring to life an idea I'd had but wasn't sure would work. I might get around to buying a kit sometime next year as I've a heap of other stuff in the works just now.... Oh, and if you like him, you can vote for him on CMoN here :P cheers James
Brother-chaplain Astador
Looks very good (also looks very much like the mouth of Sauron) It's very very well painted My one (and only) quibble is the muscles he seems to have that don't exist, looks like he has 6-packs all over his torso, where his lats are (im not sure if you sculpted these or not - if you did, well done, they still look good, just a little inhuman..but then, he isn't human) although, he's a deamon prince, so I'm pretty sure he's done his wide-grip pull-ups :D Nice work! Sgt. Aardappel
He looks really, really intimidating. My only nitpick is the grooves between his muscles. The lines there are a little too dark and thick in comparison to the normal skin for me. If it had some actual blending/shading going on it would look way better. Nice model in any case, love the colours you've used, and I'm very impressed by it's head!
Prot
Very nice work.... I love the skin tone. I just wish the picture was a bit bigger so I could see a little more face detail. Excellent.
Replica
Wow, very cool mate! Goes to show with some skill even unused bits can become excellent display pieces!
