Eeps
Hi guys, Currently I play Orks, but I'm looking at picking up a 2nd army and an assaulty blood angels force is something I think I'd enjoy playing. I generally play at 1k points, so I'm keen to get an army at that level in one go and will get various bits and bobs to build from there. With that in mind, what Im currently thinking of is this for a start up 1k list: Hq: Librarian, goes with T1 T1: Assault Squad (5) - Melta, Sarge w/ powerfist - Razorback TL Assault Cannons T2: As above T3: Assault Squad (10) - 2x Meltas, Sarge w/Fist - Rhino HS1: Predator w/ Lascannons HS2: As above Does this seem sensible? Not overly concerned with winning, but don't want to get decimated constantly! Ideally I want to purchase it in 1 go so I can build and play, if I buy: space marines librarian space marines assault squad (4) space marines predator (2) space marines razorback (2) space marines rhino Does this give me everything I need to build the above list? Thanks so much in advance for any help you can offer! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212857-new-player-advice/ Share on other sites
shatter
Sounds like quite an investment. I'd buy a mix of Death Company and Assault squad boxes for the assault troops. The models can be painted and used as Assault squads, but the bling in the boxes looks nice and BA and is more extensive including some BA specific wargear. I'd also make the librarian instead of buying one. The death company bling should make it pretty easy except for needing to hand-craft the hood (with a clipped shoulder-pad probably) and the wire from a couple of wire twist ties and/or fine fuse wire. Or, if you insist, buy a regular libby and bling him a little with a DC box. I would make a priest too. They are the business. They also make your list a BA list rather than what is more or less a C:SM (vanilla) looking list. So, buy 2-3 DC boxes and 2-3 Assault squad boxes of 5 total... IMO. =) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212857-new-player-advice/#findComment-2532310 Share on other sites
Cobraman5000
Hey there. I know I have yet to post, but I've been coming here since I heard that the new BA codex was coming out. I completely agree with shatter on the buying a mix of DC and regular assault marine boxes. Combining them (which is currently what I'm working on) makes some really sharp looking models that are all obviously BA even without paint on them. Using the DC boxes as sprue sets may cost a little more (retail $8 / box), but I feel that that is a minor investment in this game/hobby. As a further, I would NEVER buy a SM Rhino box. Always spend the little bit of extra $$ and grab a Razorback or Predator. Razorback/Predator boxes are just the Rhino sprues with an extra vehicle appropriate sprue. Doing this and not gluing the top of the vehicle (the rectangle where turrets sit) will allow you to hot swap into different vehicles. A couple of hidden magnets and some sprues off of ebay and you have a hot-swappable army that will still look very nice. PM me with magnetizing questions (I LOVE magnetizing vehicles) if you have any. Anyhoo, that's my 47 cents. Hope it helps! :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212857-new-player-advice/#findComment-2532572 Share on other sites
Eeps
Thanks for the tips guys, mixing up the box sets sounds like a good idea. I've never tried magnetising vehicles before, but I've seen some guides online and it looks really useful. Is it pretty easy to do? shatter
Yip. just make sure the magnets are reasonable quality and set well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212857-new-player-advice/#findComment-2535109 Share on other sites
