Inquisitor_Lensoven
so i've been 40kifying the fantasy fortified manor (there's an old post about that around here, and pics in the 'post your terrain) thread, but i have no idea what colors to paint it, or how to go about painting it, so it does just look like flat colors. Solid Zaku
Well, a problem with trying to make it paintable in a non-flat way is the fact that most of its' faces are almost totally flat. One way you can get around this is by GS'ing the bricks into solid 'support struts' and making it metallic or ferrocrete, ala the Bastion sets they released for 40k a while ago. Crenellations are always cool, whether it be 40k or Fantasy, so you're golden on that. Apart from that, it looks like it's a basic chop-job with some creative putty work to hide the wood. The roof of the other building might be problematic...honestly, a bastion next to a wood-shingled shack? Hrm...maybe that's how the Crimson Fists REALLY got into trouble... Replace Crosses and Comets with Skulls and Eagles. Oh, and as for those wooden beams supporting the tower, just saw those down if needbe and make them firing slits, maybe with lasguns or bolters sticking out of them. lord gunthar
If you could find some, roughcoat would be useful. Its a textured codex grey spray the is now oop, but you will still find it in some hobby stores. If not similar effest could be achieved by coating the building completely with very fine sand then undercoating it with codex grey, a fortess grey and a skull white drybrush later ( maybe a badab/devlan wash ) and you have a nice ruined looking building for your collection.
