So marines are acurate shooters

I was running my leftovers list again with a minor tweek.

basically everything i had left over from my old 3rd/4th ed Dark angels armies that i did not sell off when the new dex killed my original army builds.

i was fighting an eldar bike army with lotsof proxies(or invisible bikes as you will)

we played at 2,250 5 objectives and dawn of war deployment, eldar went first.

He had-

.farsee on bike

.avatar

.X2 guardian bike squads

.X3 elite bike units (shining spears)

.2 prism tanks

.1 wraithlord

I had

.sammael(jet bike)

.episotalery libby in terminator armor

.X2 3 man ravenwing bike sqauds(flamers/PF) with attached MM attack bike

.X3 venerable dreads(plasma/autocannon/assault cannon)

.land speeder tempest

.land raider crusader

.land raider w/melta

.land raider helios

I really think i wore my dice out in the previous 2 games of classic battletech during the night as this game went from bad to worse with my marines.

i had lots of shots but spent the first 3 turns mostly missing or failing to wound/penetrate. the first shot of the game sammaels plasma shot should have vaporized a tightly packed guardian bike squad...had i not scattered off 11 inches :cries:

when my bikes finally started showing up i tried to get the jump on his shining spears, hititng and wounding them proved fruitless and my lone surviving biker died to a fearless check. i ended up sending one surviving attack bike to hide on an objective screened by my land raider. it gave me my one and only scoring objective during the game.

My libby did spectacular, if failure was his goal. i got hellfire off even against the ghost helm, so i figured mabey i would fry me some shining spears. random AP rolled a 1, ok mabey something good......randome strength rolled a 3 then with the minus 2 i had a big strength 1 lighter to use on them.

turn 4 and 5 were really the only trurns i got anything to work. i killed one prism, took the prism cannon off the other, shot up a bike squad and actually finally wounded the wraithlord twice after 3 turns of him making his cover saves.

He held 2 objectives to my 1, so on turn 5 i risked a death run and charged one venerable in to contest an objective. i got lucky and the game ended with a tie as each of us held a single objective.

My loosses-

.6 bikes

.1 attack bike

.sammael

.libby

.land riader crusader

.1 venerable dread

His losses were disporpotionately less

. prism de-gunned,

.prism destroyed

.wraithlord wounded

.5 shining spears

.about 7 bikes
