mughi3
I got one of my buddies who plays craftworld eldar to try out something else for a change (i am so tired of battling eldar) so i offered to let him use my necron fleet. to see what it feels liek to be the other side for a change. It was late in the morning of the next day when we started this game(4th for the day for me) so we went with a simple passing engagement at 1,500 points. His fleet was simple- 5 scythe classs necron cruisers with 2 re-rolls i use jackals for most of it as proxies because i really hate how the scythe looks My fleet was .abbadon .styx .X2 devestation .repulsive with boosted lances/shields chaos lord commanding .X2 carnages I think i got a bit greedy instead of AAF my carnages to catch up to my fleet i turned in on the necrons as they AAF'd towards me. i didn't want to give up a close range lock on against a lone necron cruiser. he chose not to brace and i only managed to get a couple hits through as he made most of his 5+ saves. the carnages got one more pass before the necrons ganged up on them, destroyinng one outright and turningthe other into a wreck. i got a good bombber wave on the damaged necron cruiser and crippled it. they then went after my repulsive. it took a beating being reduced to 2 structure over the next 2 turns, it then disengaged. however before it was over combined weight of fire from the carriers, the grabd cruiser and the bomber run managed to kill a scythe. At this pont the battle was pretty much lost for me. the carriers could not get away from the scythes and were froced on the defensive. bracing preventing me from crucial reloading so i disengaged before i lost one of the devestations. The necrons were clearly winning the engagement but with the funky points system i think i may have broke even or mabey even come out ahead if we were doing victory points. i lost 2 cruiser, and had 2 crippled VS 1 crippled and 1 destroyed on the necron side. Next time we play he wants to use my Grey knight "black ship" force. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/batreps/bf110910.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/batreps/bf210910.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/batreps/bf310910.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/batreps/bf410910.jpg http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/batreps/bf510910.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212919-flipping-the-tables/ Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Interesting.... Why abaddon and a chaos lord? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212919-flipping-the-tables/#findComment-2541650 Share on other sites
mughi3
Interesting.... Why abaddon and a chaos lord? Because my dice hate me in gothic. Chaos lords give the ships/squadrons they are attached to a LD boost. Abbaddon in my fleet gives me one free re-roll for LD checks every single turn, effectively unlimited re-rolls. granted he costs as much as a cruiser and it is hell if i fail the re-roll, but it is so worth it for me. Seahawk
Interesting. So I tried calculating the points for ye...if the destroyed Scythe was obliterated, you lost by about 50 points. If it was left as a hulk, you won by just over 100 points. Silly Necron points rules... mughi3
That would be a win then since i made one of them a drifiting hulk, although it really doesn't matter i still lost in the end as i had to withdraw. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212919-flipping-the-tables/#findComment-2558315 Share on other sites
